The Berlin Heights Basket Festival committee announced today they have entered a joint partnership with Shores and Islands Ohio, a DMO located in Sandusky Ohio. The Basket Festival will be celebrating it’s 50th year of operation in 2026. The festival honors the village’s oldest industry, The Berlin Fruit Box Company. The company started by Samuel Patterson produced the last batch of baskets in 2012 but the community continues to honor the legacy by hosting the Basket Festival every year. The festival will be August 7th and 8th with the Grand Parade starting at 1:30 on Saturday and rolling through the street of the village and fireworks are scheduled for Friday night at 10:15. There will be food vendors, open market vendors, games for kids of all ages and the Royalty contest all weekend. Live music will play on the main stage on Friday night with the very popular Fleetwood Mac cover band, Rumours, playing on Saturday night. The festivities wrap up on Sunday morning with a 5k race held at and sponsored by Quarry Hill Winery.
“The Basket Festival committee is thrilled to be partnering with Shores and Islands Ohio,” says committee member Andy Kellar. “They have an excellent reputation promoting surrounding community events and it just seemed like a good fit for us. We are looking forward to working with them.”
