Hi NYOA Fam,

I’ve finally had some time to recoup and catch up on sleep, and I wanted to share a few reflections from the weekend while also giving some well-deserved shout-outs.

First, I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I absolutely loved walking around and seeing everything our youth entrepreneurs created. The 80’s outfits were AMAZING, The Devon Lawton Band playing an extra hour was such a treat, and the glow-in-the-dark face painting was so much fun! Race day, despite a few hiccups, went really well. Thank you all for coming out. I know the dust was tough, but I hope the creek section helped cool you down.

A Few Important Notes

While so much of the weekend was positive, there were some things that didn’t sit well with me and need to be addressed:

Youth activities are all extras, not required, but something I love to offer. Unfortunately, during the glow-in-the-dark hayride, some kids purposely threw glow sticks on the road. I never condone littering and was saddened this happened.

Someone took the time to grind the springs off one of the porta potties and even stole a hand sanitizer unit. These damages fall back on me to repair.

A group of children (some identified and spoken to) damaged personal property by breaking a glass window.

Please, please talk with your children about respecting others’ property when they are invited onto someone’s land. It truly matters.

Plenty of pit boards are left. If you didn’t make the cut initially or missed grabbing yours, come find me at vendor row.

I still have various sizes of shirts and sweatshirts.

I also grabbed some Hemlock Hills stickers from 725 Designs that will be available for purchase.

Once we’re at Rolling Oaks, I’ll post specific days and times when I’ll be set up at vendor row.

Weekend updates! 🎉
Hope you’ve got those 80’s outfits ready for this weekend! A few quick notes:

• 🎥 Track preview videos are in the works, our awesome crew is grabbing footage now. They’ll be posted tomorrow or Friday.
• 🚲 NEW! We’ve added another bicycle track just for the littles (ages 5 & under). The bike track out back stays open for ages 6+.
• 🪖 Helmets are required on BOTH tracks. If a rider doesn’t have one on, they’ll be asked to grab it before riding.
• 🎨 Vendor Row will have two jumbo coloring banners on Saturday & Sunday, crayons provided!
• 👩‍💼 Youth Entrepreneur Event: Saturday, 2:30–4:00 PM. Get your kiddo signed up! I’ll share a preview of the items tomorrow.
• 👗🎸 Costume Contest: Meet by the band at 5:15 PM. Prizes for the best 80’s looks!
• 🏁 Bonus challenge: We teamed up with Budget Racing—$50 gift card to the FIRST rider to “catch the mullet” in each class: peewee bike, peewee quad, mini bike & mini quad.

The work day is still on. We may end a bit early depending on what the rain does later today, but it looks like we will still be able to get some stuff done this morning/afternoon. We look forward to seeing everyone again today.

Good morning and happy 1st day of October. I wanted to pop back on here and share the link to the survey I created once more. I have gotten feedback from about 2% of the people in this group so far and while I appreciate those who have taken it, I still really encourage others to fill it out. This is a form I have created myself and is slightly different than the one NYOA posts. There are 10 questions, but these give me a better idea of what needs to be changed or made better for next year. Responses are kept anonymous, but please be kind, there are real people behind these events that are put together for you, your friends, or your loved ones to race on.
