It’s been a hectic week for Team MBC.
You may have heard that Stonehedge Fiber mill was up for sale this year. We had hoped that being in line for processing since late 2023 would have helped us have yarn in hand by now, but alas, we still have no yarn from the 2024 and 2025 clips.
The new owner has not yet been able to commit to processing wool for others, leaving us in a bit of a pickle. We had 200 lbs of raw fleece awaiting processing in East Jordan and anticipate another 100 lbs this spring.
We were given a hot tip about a mill that has low wait times right now, so made a trip north to get the wool, and today dropped it at the new mill. We are hopeful that we will have actual YARN in hand by early 2026. 😍
A friend joined me on Friday and Joanie drove today and we now have a couple of long car days in the rear view mirror and all sorts of good things ahead. ❤️
Sometimes I forget just how beautiful Mary’s fleeces are, but I fell in love with them all over again today looking in the bags.
In addition to the wool, we have been practicing patience using our nephew’s rock tumbler. I had the brilliant idea to collect rocks this summer to create buttons. We are a few steps into the tumbling process and I could not be more in love with how these are already matching my vision.
So much to be thankful for this week. I hope you’re counting your blessings too, and would love for you to share all of the good things you’re surrounded with this season.
❤️❤️❤️
