Interesting statistics:
Projected attendance at Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy: 20 million
Tickets sold so far: 8 million
Tickets sold outside Italy: 5 million
Tickets sold to Chinese: 1 million

Three months from opening day, organisers of this year's World Expo in Milan said on Thursday they had sold eight million tickets, a third of the projected total.

Sadly, the November 2nd deadline came and went without the United States putting in a bid for any city (or rejoining the Bureua International des Expositions).

What do you think should happen next? Should efforts be made for a smaller scale Expo 2022 or Expo 2023 or should a US city work toward a large-scale world's fair in 2025?

Here's the official BIE word on Expo 2017 and Expo 2020.

Interesting bits:
- Only 2017 is mention and not the possibility of 2018 for the smaller "recognized" world's fair
- No mention of Houston or Silicon Valley for Expo 2020 (I'm still trying to get information about what the State Department has been doing with US membership in the BIE)
- No mention of Yekaterinburg for 2020 even though this sounds like it is definitely in the works.
- Expo 2017 bid deadline is 10 December 2011
- Expo 2020 bid deadline is 02 November 2011
