Hello Everyone, Clodagh Martin here...page admin. I created this page to draw awareness to one of Benicia's newest gems, Benicia Youth Orchestra! BYO was formed just a few years ago by Rem Djemilev, who is an incredible music teacher/director/conductor based in the Bay Area. I am one of the on-call coaches for this group, I coach the strings section. He conducts several successful youth orchestras such as Diablo Regional Youth Orchestra (based in Walnut Creek), as well as Young People's Chamber Orchestra (based in Berkeley). As a Benicia resident, he felt it of the upmost importance to bring his passion for music and orchestra to Benicia. There are so many young, aspiring musicians in our little town. As a professional musician myself, I have never seen anyone with as much patience and talent when it comes to working with children. It's definitely a gift. The orchestra rehearses on Monday afternoons (after school lets out). If you have any questions or would like to visit the orchestra, contact us via this page! I will be linking an article written when the idea for this orchestra was born, as well as a bio about our fabulous conductor, Rem!
