At Rooted, we believe that anyone who wants to ride mountain bikes should feel comfortable and empowered to hit the trails. Our mission to empower women and genderq***r folks in nature through education and encouragement includes providing a safe and enjoyable environment to level up skills and experience the magic.

In order to cultivate a truly inclusive mountain bike community, we need to make sure that BIPOC riders feel welcome on the trails. This is why we’ve reserved 30 tickets for BIPOC riders. We still have some available and hope you will join us!

🚲 Are you interested in giving mountain biking a try, but don’t have a bike to use? 🚲

We are excited to announce that this year, we have a limited number of mountain bikes available to be borrowed during the festival! If you are interested in reserving a loaner bike, please send an email to [email protected] and let us know how tall you are. Bikes will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.

✨️ In addition to skills clinics, yoga, and group rides, we’re excited to share some extra experiences with you all throughout the festival weekend! Scroll through to learn about the different sessions that will be offered, and read on to learn a little bit about the instructors!

🎟 Note: Adele’s nature ride requires registration on BikeReg (opening 6/4). Dawn’s sign-painting class will be cash-only, sign up at the festival. No charge or registration necessary for the lunch & learns, mindful birding, or firefly & stargazing sessions.

🌿 Adele - Adele's job and goal in life is to connect people with the outdoors. As an environmental educator at Allegany State Park since 2000, she gets to do that every day. With a degree in Biology and minor in Horticulture, she finds plants incredibly amazing and continues to learn about their uses. Mountain biking for over 25years was a way to see more of the forests and explore new states. She has a goal to ride in every state and has only 7 to go. Wahoo! Adele is a PMBIA level 1 instructor and also a Professional Ski Instructor of America telemark examiner. She also rode her bike every day from May 2023 to January 2026 - 1000 days.
Adele is passionate about biking, fireflies, wildflowers, taking photos of tiny things, and skiing. She truly feels at home in the woods and loves sharing nature's little treasure with all.

🦝 Kayla - Though new to the world of mountain biking, Kayla (she/any) has a lifelong affinity for movement on two wheels. Kayla is a naturalist for New York State Parks where they’re able to bridge human connection and appreciation of our natural world. Nature immersed in every sense of the word, Kayla strives to create an accessible and diverse community in the outdoors and day to day life.

🎨 Dawn - This is my 5th year attending Rooted (wasn’t allowed to cross into the
USA in 2021 or I would have been here...thank you Covid). I am actively involved in the cycling community in Niagara region (Canada side)! You can catch me on one of the trails or on the road (usually riding to a winery). I am a coach with Cycle Canada where my main
focus is teaching children how to ride. I am also involved with our local trail building group. I have been fortunate enough to cycle in many (12 so far) different countries (feel free to ask me my favourite). The past few years I’ve brought an artistic element to Rooted and I’m excited to be asked to return with a project for 2026.

🐦 Andrea (she/they) is a lover of everything outdoorsy and founder of Ample Movement. She leads international treks and creates inclusive, accessible outdoor spaces for people in larger bodies, disabled folks, q***r folks, and others who have been told these spaces aren't for them. They are also a yoga teacher, and have been exploring nature journaling and mindfulness as tools for deepening connection to the natural world. Their work is rooted in the belief that joyful movement belongs to everyone and that we are all worthy of taking up space in the outdoors.

Morning yoga classes are included as part of your festival pass! They will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings.

Meet your 2026 Rooted Festival yoga instructors:

Carissa (she/her) was born & raised in the Pocono Mountains, where life on two wheels began early. Banana seat bikes turned into MTB’s, BMX to gravel & so on.
She has been exploring yoga & esoteric studies since the 1900s ;) & has been a certified yoga teacher since 2008. Her path has taken her through a wide range of experiences—from reading Tarot & Human Design charts to hosting yoga retreats & beyond.
Carissa has spent the past eight years working in the bike industry in events & marketing, helping build community both on & off the saddle. She’s also a Little Bella’s Mentor in a program that creates opportunities for little groms to experience success using mountain biking as the catalyst.
When she’s not teaching or riding, you can find her traveling, chasing waves, camping, skiing, or soaking in the live music scene whenever she can.

Kara (she/her) has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and has been a certified yoga teacher since 2013. She holds certificates in Hatha Vinyasa Yoga, 200 hrs, from Radiant Yoga School in Nicaragua and Hatha Yoga, 300 hrs, from Paramand Institute of Yoga in India. Kara has taught yoga in studios, private homes, corporate yoga, and online since her initial certification. She is currently working towards her Prenatal Yoga certification, 85 hrs, and can be found teaching pop up classes at Sukanya Burman Dance in Jamestown until she resumes her regular weekly vinyasa classes after her extended maternity leave. She is a loving mother of two amazing girls and one small senior dog.
When it comes to bikes, she used to be an avid road cyclist who commuted to work by bike for years, but since having children, she has unfortunately ridden less and less, save for some fun family cycling trips. That is why she values time spent at Rooted to be in community with like minded women, spending time outdoors. Kara has taught at every Rooted festival since the beginning, except for 2025 when her youngest daughter was only two weeks old.

Sue (she/her) started mountain biking in 2019 and is grateful to the pandemic for keeping her from giving up too soon! She's based in Buffalo NY, where her day job has her focused on helping hospitals and health systems in financial distress. When she's not biking, building and maintaining singletrack, or working, you can find her cooking, rooting for the Bills and Sabres, supporting local music, and spending time with her husband and two cats. She also serves as the Secretary of the Western New York Mountain Bicycling Association (WNYMBA).
Sue completed a 200-hour yoga training at East Meets West Yoga, and a second 200-hour yoga training at Love in Motion Training. Her classes
invite people to experiment with movement to find strength, stability,
and grounding.

Be sure to pack your yoga mat!
