A family dinner. A looming war. One empty chair.

Join us for Island / 島,與 by Henry Dwan, presented by Hawberry Productions 冰糖葫蘆表演社 , as part of BITFest.

This powerful theatrical piece explores the tension between China and Taiwan—two societies connected by deep cultural roots yet divided by decades of political conflict.

At the center of the story is a family gathering for what may be their final dinner together before their daughter leaves for the front lines. Through everyday conversation, imagination, and music, the family reflects on hope, fear, and the fragile possibility of peace.

Blending expressive movement with visual elements inspired by traditional ink-wash aesthetics, the performance contrasts the warmth of family life with the harsh realities of war.

As the play returns to its opening moment—with one chair left empty—it offers a haunting reminder: in times of conflict, the greatest victory is simply coming home.

Continuing to introduce our adjudicators. Ms. Bobbi Kotula.

Meet one of the adjudicators for BITFest 🎭

We are delighted to welcome Bobbi Kotula as an adjudicator for this year’s festival.

A celebrated actress in the Pacific Northwest, Bobbi is known for her dynamic performances, sharp comedic timing, and deep commitment to the theatre community. She earned her BA in Theatre from Penn State University and pursued advanced studies in directing at Villanova University, where she also obtained her teaching certification.

Bobbi has built an impressive career on stage, earning acclaim for roles across classical theatre, musical theatre, and contemporary productions. Her portrayal of **Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly! ** received rave reviews, while her recent role as Roz Keith in 9 to 5 was described as outrageously funny. Her unforgettable performance as the eccentric German director Hildret Heinz in the original musical Iron Curtain at Village Theatre led to an Off-Broadway debut, where The New York Times called her performance “uproarious.”

Her extensive stage credits include Kate in The Taming of the Shrew, Paulina in The Winter’s Tale, Mrs. Warren in Mrs. Warren’s Profession, Miss Hannigan in Annie, Beula in Come From Away, Mrs. Brill in Mary Poppins, Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, and Sarah in Company. She has also appeared in film and television including 21 and Over, Cheap AF, Norman, The Deadline, The Fugitive, and Amazing Grace, and can be heard in radio dramas such as The Adventures of Harry Nile and The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

Beyond performing, Bobbi serves as Major Gifts Manager at Village Theatre, combining her passion for theatre with her dedication to supporting the arts. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and SAG-AFTRA, and actively supports organizations that provide safety, food, and housing within her community.

We are honored to have Bobbi bring her experience, artistry, and insight to BITFest.

What if pillows could dream… and talk to each other?

Join us for Pillows / Подушки by Olzhas Zhanaidarov, presented by Fool House Art Collective as part of BITFest.

Inspired by the play Pillow’s Soul, this imaginative performance invites audiences into a surreal world where nearly all the characters are pillows. Living side by side, they share stories, dreams, and reflections—until the arrival of a new neighbor who looks the same on the outside but is completely different within.

Through humor, imagination, and poetic storytelling, Pillows explores how we respond to what feels unfamiliar, reminding us that accepting difference can be both challenging and transformative.

Created through a unique rehearsal process centered on sensory exploration—smell, sound, light, space, and movement—this production becomes a multi-sensory theatrical experience that invites the audience into a world of dream-sharing and reflection.

A mysterious stranger. A small-town shop. And a few crushed petunias that change everything.

Join us for The Case of the Crushed Petunias by Tennessee Williams, presented by .studio.theatre as part of BITFest.

In this whimsical one-act fantasy, a shopkeeper’s carefully ordered life is quietly disrupted when a free-spirited visitor arrives in town. Through poetic dialogue and dreamlike moments, Williams explores curiosity, conformity, and the courage it takes to step beyond the familiar.

Best known for masterpieces like The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows another side of his artistry in this lyrical and imaginative story.

A charming, thought-provoking piece filled with humor, poetry, and a touch of the unexpected.

Meet our adjudicators.

Meet one of the adjudicators for BITFest 🎭

We’re honored to welcome Scott B. Randall, founder and artistic director of the Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts , as an adjudicator for this year’s festival.

With nearly 40 years of experience in community and educational theatre, Scott has worked across almost every aspect of live performance—from directing and producing to scenic and lighting design. But above all, his greatest passion is theatre education.

A graduate of Western Washington University with a BA in Theatre Education, Scott has taught at the Los Angeles Unified School District, Trinity Lutheran College, Everett Community College, and Snohomish High School, inspiring generations of artists to push beyond their comfort zones and make bold, compelling choices on stage.

At BITFest, Scott will bring his deep experience and thoughtful perspective to support and encourage the participating companies as they share their work with audiences.

We are thrilled to have him with us and look forward to the insights he will bring to the festival.
