To unite communities through celebration and learning, honoring the profound historical significance of maíz in Mesoamerica and the Peoples who cultivated it over millennia. Through art, food, and ceremony, we aim to highlight this pivotal agricultural achievement and its enduring impact on the

world. We are a community-centered festival dedicated to sharing and celebrating the richness of Mesoamerican Indigenous heritage. Core Values for Fiesta del Maíz:

• Community-Centered Approach: The process of planning and executing the festival is as important as the outcome, driven by and for the community.
• Sacred Acknowledgment of Maiz: Maiz is treated as sacred and celebrated as a foundational Indigenous achievement and cultural cornerstone.
• Cultural Education & Empowerment: Educating the community about maíz and the diverse Indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica, emphasizing pre-colonial history and contributions.
• Artistic Expression & Heritage: Encourage, center, and feature pre-colonial Mesoamerican culture and maíz-inspired arts to share artistic expression and preserve cultural narratives. Community Access and Celebration: Promote unlimited access to the festival, recognizing celebration as a fundamental practice for building healthy communities.

🎉🌽 A HUGE Thank You from the Fiesta del Maíz Planning Team! 🌽🎉

What an incredible day yesterday at Crossroads Park! To every festival-goer, art vendor, food vendor, presenter, volunteer, and community partner—THANK YOU for making the second annual Fiesta del Maíz a massive success!

Your energy, smiles, and support created a truly special day. We saw so much joy, felt the solidarity, and watched as people felt safe and connected in community. We heard about the incredible things you learned about maiz, saw you enjoy the delicious food, and watched you take home beautiful art—exactly the vision we hope to achieve!
Your presence is our purpose.

We sincerely hope to host the Fiesta del Maíz again next year, continuing our mission to honor and celebrate maiz and Mesoamerican Indigenous cultures. Stay tuned and keep supporting us!

🚨 Program Update for Fiesta del Maiz 🚨

We need to share a last-minute program adjustment for tomorrow’s festival.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected health emergencies with a few members, the amazing Danza Azteca group, will not be able to offer their Maíz Ceremony.

We are working through the night to fill the early afternoon slot with other wonderful presenters on maiz-related topics. We will share the updated schedule as soon as possible tomorrow morning!

What You Can Still Expect:
The rest of the festival is on track for a gorgeous day!
Come enjoy:
* Delicious Food and Art Vendors from 12 PM to 5 PM
* Fun and Free Kids Activities all day
* Our amazing afternoon presentations with Maria G. Casey (3 PM) and Xiomara E. Salvatierra (4 PM)

Last year's festival was a culinary delight, and this year, we're bringing even more flavor! We're excited to feature incredible food vendors who will be serving up delicious cuisine, with a special focus on incredible maiz-based dishes.
