SMACNA-Western Washington’s Fall Member Mixer brought members together at Topgolf last week for an afternoon of food, golf and great conversation — with an inspiring message from featured speaker Cam F Awesome.

Cam is a 12-time national champion heavyweight boxer, former captain of Team USA Boxing and the winningest boxer in USA Boxing history. During our event, he had everyone laughing while reminding us of something simple but powerful: How you talk to yourself matters. His message about resilience, self-belief and developing a champion’s mindset clearly resonated, with conversations continuing long after his talk ended.

A huge thank-you to Cam for sharing his story and energy with our members, and to everyone who came out to make it a memorable mixer!

Shoutout to Hermanson Company for hosting another Heavy Metal Summer Experience camp! 👏 Thanks to partners like Hermanson, more students are getting hands-on exposure to careers in the skilled trades each year. We're proud to see them investing in the next generation of our workforce.

The Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) is back at Hermanson!

What started in 2021 as a pilot camp co-piloted by Hermanson and Western Allied Mechanical has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, HMSE includes more than 60 camps across North America and Canada.

Over the next few weeks, students will:
• Connect with industry professionals
• Visit union training centers and local shops
• Get hands-on experience in the trades

We look forward to seeing these students grow their skills, build confidence, and explore what a future in the trades can look like.
