Prizes & Recognition
FOR PIANO SOLO:
3 Medal types may be given, based on merit: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Up to TWO Gold medals may be given to each age division. $100 Amazon Gift Cards will be given to the Gold Medalist(s). If there are TWO Gold Medalists in each age division, the $100 prize will be split 50/50. Multiple Silver & Bronze medals may be given in each age division. Special recognitio
n may be given to exceptional pianists who perform a specific composer. All pianists will receive Achievement certificates and valuable feedback from World-Class adjudicators from around the country. All medalists will be featured on our page. FOR PIANO CONCERTO:
Gold, Silver and Bronze Trophies will be given to outstanding performers in TWO concerto divisions: Junior Concerto (ages 12 and under) and Senior Concerto (ages 13-18). One Gold Medalist from the Senior Division will be invited to perform with Bellevue Symphony in Fall of 2021, pending health status. There are no cash prizes for the Concerto Division. ELIGIBILITY:�
Pianists of any nationality, any geographical region in the world are eligible to compete. Registration is limited to the first 120 applicants. Registration period: September 15th, 2020 to October 31st, 2020. Registration will stop after 120 pianists. No late entries will be accepted. Adjudication period: November 1st through November 8, 2020. Winners will be announced by Email/Facebook/Website by November 9, 2020. AGE DIVISIONS (Piano Solo)
Pianists of all various ages (as of November 1st, 2020) are eligible to compete in one of seven age divisions:
Division 1…8 and under. Total playing time cannot exceed 6 minutes. Registration Fee: $45�
Division 2... 9-10 years. Total playing time cannot exceed 7 minutes. Registration Fee: $50�
Division 3... 11 to 12 years. Total playing time cannot exceed 8 minutes. Registration Fee: $55�
Division 4... 13 to 14 years. Total playing time cannot exceed 9 minutes. Registration Fee: $60�
Division 5... 15 to 16 years. Total playing time cannot exceed 10 minutes. Registration Fee: $65�
Division 6... 17 to 18 years. Total playing time cannot exceed 11 minutes. Registration Fee: $70�
Division 7... 19 and up. Registration Fee: $65
AGE DIVISIONS (Concerto)
Pianists may choose Concerto only or add on a concerto to a solo program. JUNIOR DIVISION: 12 and under. Registration Fee: $60
SENIOR DIVISION: 13 to 18. Total playing time cannot exceed 14 minutes. Registration Fee: $70
REPERTOIRE:
Only YouTube or Vimeo links will be permitted. All work(s) must be performed memorized. While there is no penalty for pianists exceeding the TOTAL playing time (listed above) for each Age Division, adjudicator will STOP viewing video link when maximum time allotment is reached. SOLO:
Pianists may play any published work(s) by any living or deceased composers of any time era. Pianists must use standard published repertoire (This refers to music printed for distribution and sale and available through the general market in printed form with legal copyright printed on the music). Participants must use legally-obtained music that is available to the general public. Music purchased from a legal internet source meets the criteria if it is accompanied by copyright and proof of purchase information. All repeats and Da Capos may be omitted. If your piece is a rarely played or unknown, you may be asked to provide a legible photo of each page of your piece. CONCERTO:
Pianists may play one movement from any standard concerto for piano and orchestra of any time era. Scores must be available for rental. Pianists may perform with OR without an accompanist (orchestra reduction). Adjudicator will judge strictly on the musical maturity and content of JUST the concerto soloist. RECORDING:
Up to three YouTube or Vimeo links may be submitted. You may also choose to provide one link with multiple pieces performed in one sitting, but no more than 3 pieces can be submitted. All pieces (solo and concerto) must be recordings made after September 1st, 2020. Video editing or acoustical enhancements are NOT permitted. Face, hands and feet must be visible at all times. VIDEO UPLOADING:
Only YouTube and Vimeo formats will be permitted. NO dropbox, Microsoft files, Google docs, ICloud share etc. Video link title MUST include the following:
- 2020 Pacific NW Piano Competition
- Full name of pianist
- Age of pianist (as of November 1st, 2020)
- Composer and title of piece(s) performed
