New for 2026.

We’re proud to announce Age Group Champion Jerseys at Village Gravel.

Every age group champion will earn an exclusive Village Gravel x ASSOS Champion Jersey on race day.

These championship jerseys aren’t purchased.
They’re not given away.
They’re earned.

Whether you’re racing the 30, 60, or 100-mile route, you’ll have the opportunity to compete for more than a finish time—you’ll be racing for a champion jersey.

Because every rider deserves something worth chasing.

Who wants to wear one home on August 22?

Shoulders, Neck, and Upper Back Fatigue on Long Rides? Try This.

The Bent Over External Rotation to Overhead Extension is one of my favorite upper-body endurance exercises for cyclists.

This movement combines three phases into one:

1. Row
Hinge forward at the hips and pull your elbows up and out until your upper arms are parallel to the floor.

2. External Rotation
Keep your elbows fixed and rotate your forearms upward, bringing your knuckles toward the ceiling.

3. Overhead Extension
Press the weights overhead, finishing in a strong, controlled position.

Why I like it for cyclists:

• Strengthens the rear shoulders and rotator cuff
• Improves scapular stability and posture
• Builds endurance in the upper back and neck-supporting muscles
• Helps reduce arm, shoulder, and neck fatigue during long rides
• Improves control and stability on rough terrain

Use light weights and focus on quality movement rather than load.

3–4 sets of 12–20 reps

Your legs aren’t the only thing working on the bike. The stronger and more resilient your upper body is, the more comfortable and efficient you’ll be when the ride gets long, rough, and demanding.

Save this one for your next strength session. Your shoulders will thank you!

Being a race director means a lot of things.

Some days it’s permits, spreadsheets, sponsor calls, and course markings.

Some days it’s standing in the forest cutting logs by hand because you want every podium award to be as unique as the riders who earn them.

Village Gravel has never been about mass production. It’s about creating an experience that feels personal from start to finish.

These logs will become custom podium awards for this year’s racers. A little piece of Flagstaff. A little piece of the forest. A reminder of the miles, the climbs, and the stories made out on course.

It takes a village. And sometimes, a chainsaw. 🌲🏆

New for Village Gravel 2026: Women’s-Only Start Option

We know that for many women and as a woman owed event, having the opportunity to start alongside other women creates a more comfortable, supportive, and confidence-building race experience.

This year at Village Gravel, women riders in the 30, 60, and 100-mile distances will have the option to participate in a women’s-only start. Whether you’re chasing a podium, tackling your first gravel event, or simply want to begin the day surrounded by other women, the choice is yours.

The women’s-only start is completely optional. If you prefer to start with the general field, you can do that too.

Our goal is simple: create an environment where more women feel welcome, supported, and empowered to show up, challenge themselves, and have an incredible day on the bike.

30 miles. 60 miles. 100 miles. Your race. Your choice.

Join us August 22 in Flagstaff for a day of adventure, community, and doing hard things together. 🚴‍♀️

Somewhere between the wildflowers, the pine trees, and the endless gravel roads… you remember why you ride.

This is what Village Gravel is all about. Big views. Fast friends. Dirt under your tires. And that feeling that only happens when you’re completely lost in the ride.

Hand numbness on the gravel bike usually isn’t random.

It’s often caused by too much pressure through the hands from poor positioning, high tire pressure, locked elbows, or simply gripping the bars too tight.

Small setup changes and better body awareness can make a huge difference in comfort, control, and confidence on long rides.

Some races are about podiums.
Some are about proving something to yourself.
Some are about finding your people.

Village Gravel is all three.

The miles are hard.
The climbs bite back.
But somewhere between the dirt, the suffering, the laughter, and the finish line hugs…
you remember why you ride.

This isn’t just another gravel race.
It’s your best ride of the year.

The climbs at 2026 are about to hurt in the best possible way.

Every distance — 30, 60, and 100 mile — will feature official timed “Challenge Climb” KOM / QOM Strava segments.

And this year, the reward for laying it all on the line?
A handmade Italian gravel tire set from for every KOM and QOM winner across all distances.

Built for riders who love speed, grip, and ride feel, Challenge Tires have earned a reputation for their handmade construction and ultra-supple casings that float over rough terrain while still delivering race-day performance.

This isn’t just about watts.
It’s about who’s willing to suffer a little deeper when the road points skyward.

Loose gravel.
Burning legs.
Heavy breathing.
That moment when you decide to keep pushing anyway.

Who’s hunting a fresh set of handmade Italian rubber this August?

Gravel has a way of stripping things down to what really matters.

Long climbs. Flat tires. Bad days. Big wins.
And somewhere in all of it — riders lifting each other up.

A push when someone is cramping.
A tube handed over without hesitation.
A wheel shared.
A “you’ve got this” at exactly the right moment.

That’s the part of this sport I love most.

Yes, we race hard.
But the strongest communities are built when competitors become supporters too.

At Village Gravel, we believe the best finish lines are the ones where people cheer just as loud for the last rider as the first. Where hugs, high fives, encouragement, and shared suffering matter just as much as podiums.

Because in the end, bikes bring people together.
And sometimes the most powerful thing you can do as an athlete… is help someone else keep moving forward.

“It takes a Village.”
