Marian finished the second crossing of Torch Lake last night at 2am! It was a 35.6 mile swim that started at 7am the previous day. This amazing achievement was all to raise support for a cure for type 1 diabetes! She’s continuing the fundraising push today. We’re $18k towards our campaign goal of $50k. Donations are at GoFundMe (https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-great-diabetes-swim), and follow us here to find out where you can see Marian and cheer on this amazing achievement.
Marian is so grateful for all of your incredible support during her entire time on Torch Lake, particularly those from the docks cheering for her as she swam past! She did amazingly well and was going strong even at the end.
But just like those with know all too well, despite all the training and preparation, sometimes things happen in a way you can’t control. For the last 4 hours, Marian was getting increasingly cold, even with her feet going numb for the last hour. She had the strength to keep going but the cold was starting to make it unsafe.
We’re all incredibly proud of her massive accomplishment of finishing a double crossing of Torch Lake. To celebrate that, we want to make a big push today on the fundraising! Help us get to $50k to support all those individuals out there in support of a cure for type 1 diabetes.
