Excellent day in Belfast, great crowd, great athletes. So many people willing to help tear down and pack up when the skies opened. I think each class got in all but one planned event. Brand new throwers, long timers with many years in Belfast, and everything in the middle. Can't say enough how much I enjoyed today.

Some stones fresh out of a stream bed and a couple shots of the brand new women's sheaf they'll be breaking in Sunday.

1 week away friends! Reminder to athletes,we start throwing at 9 so be there early to sign in, pay your entry fee ($30) and get warmed up. The plan currently is both stones, both weights, caber, heavy hammer, wob, and sheaf. Not necessarily in that order, and an event may get dropped depending on total turn out.

Equipment Post:

Hello Friends, we will have 14/ 28/42/56 pound weights, all stones, and 16/22 pound hammers. If you throw a different weight in your division, such as the masters ladies 21 # or 60+ male 35 # please bring along.

Height standard goes to 32 feet 6, which is plenty for the bulk of us, sorry to any of the animals chasing big sheaf heights.

We're in the final few weeks, I hope folks are getting pumped up. Official sign ups and entry fee are day of the games, but for ease of scoring please sign up at heavyathlete.com if you have not already.

In a little less than a month you can throw a hammer in front of sail boats just like this classy individual.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

The Maine Celtic Celebration is entirely volunteer-operated and we're on the hunt for some awesome volunteers to join our crew and help bring the 2025 Maine Celtic Celebration to life!
If you have a few hours to spare, we are looking for interested and talented people to help with the planning/running of this year's event which takes place on the weekend of July 18–20, 2025.

Sponsorship Coordinator – Your personality skills will come in handy when reaching out to our current, and potential new, sponsors. You can do this either by email or in-person. Your choice. You’ll be provided with a list of our current sponsors to get you started.

Merchandiser – Do you love to shop? We need someone to gather pricing information on logo-branded teeshirts and other merch, order the items, then organize stuff and oversee our Store Tent during the festival weekend.

Volunteer Coordinator – We have a great group of folks who love to help out during the event weekend, and we need someone to be the brains of overseeing sign up for donation tables, the Store Tent and other tasks that our volunteers are so skilled at doing.

Grounds Coordinator / Team Members – Belfast Harbor Park and Steamboat Landing are the venues for everything that goes on for our 3-day event. The Grounds Coordinator acts as the “air traffic controller” for all the activities that happen, including arranging equipment rentals, interfacing with the City of Belfast, traffic management, site set-up and breakdown. It’s a big job, but for someone who loves to be in charge, it’s a great opportunity and a lot of fun.

We provide coaching and guidance for each of these positions.
