Hi everyone. I think I need to clarify something because I might have made people confused. The money that my family is out was not any of the money from the donations from the light show. This has nothing to do with the light show. No current or past donations were affected and all went to Supporting our Cause and Fight for Type 1 Diabetes every year. What happened was a personal crime that impacted my son directly, which then affected all of us.

Thank you so much for setting this up and for showing us such incredible support. We’re truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our family, friends, and community.

This has been a really difficult time for us, and seeing people care so deeply about our situation is incredibly humbling. We’re still processing everything and figuring out the best way forward, but knowing we have so much love and encouragement means more than words can say.

Thank you again for stepping up- and to all the people in our community who had offered to do so we thank you as well. You are all so thoughtful ❤️

To all of our amazing supporters,

For the past nine years, our family has poured our hearts into our holiday light display, lighting up the season with joy and raising money for diabetes research. This display has been our son Michael’s pride and joy. With a smile and unbreakable spirit, he has worked tirelessly through his Light show to support research that holds hope not only for him but for everyone affected by diabetes. Watching the community come together each year has filled him with a happiness that is truly priceless.

However, this year, we are heartbroken to share that we cannot continue our tradition. Due to unforeseen circumstances, someone we trusted in our community, through fraudulent behavior, took advantage of him, and we are now facing a financial loss exceeding $100,000. With this tragedy, we simply cannot afford to put on our light show this year. As you could imagine, the emotional toll has been heavy on all of us, especially Michael. He is devastated—and when he feels the weight, we all do.

We hope you know how deeply grateful we are for the years of support, smiles, and shared joy. Although we cannot light up the season as we usually do, the spirit of togetherness and generosity you’ve shown over the years is something we all could carry together. A Huge Thank you for being a part of this journey, for 'following' us and for supporting a cause that means the world to Michael and our family.

With heartfelt gratitude and hope for brighter days,

The English family / The Cedar Lane Holiday Light show

Cedar Lane Holiday Light Show Fundraiser

In 2012 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. In thinking about ways to help find a cure, I decided to create a Christmas light show to raise money for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) to support the research for all people with Type 1 Diabetes both young and old. Proceeds from my show will be donated to support the cure for this disease that I, and unfortunately so many others like me face, each day. Currently there are over 50 human clinical trials going on and others ready to go and just awaiting more funding.

If you are unfamiliar with T1D, it's when a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. The daily life of someone with T1D brings a multitude of challenges, including insulin injections that need to be carefully balanced with eating and activity, disruptive glucose monitoring, sleepless nights—and wishing for a tomorrow where this struggle doesn’t exist.

As I am getting older, what has been specifically on my mind is how fortunate I am to have the support of my families health insurance (for now), but I worry about the thousands of people with T1D (as well as myself in the near future) that don't have good health benefits as I know they'll need our help. To put this into perspective, about 10 years ago, 1 vial of insulin would costs ~$75, that same vial today would cost over $275, which is about a weeks' worth. You could read more about this here: (http://www.businessinsider.com/insulin-price-increased-last-decade-chart-2019-9) With all of this said, I am fundraising for JDRF because I believe in their vision of a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). Your generosity will help JDRF fund life-changing breakthroughs to remove the incredible daily burden of this disease—until it no longer exists! Living with T1D means there are no days off and currently there is no cure, But that doesn't take away my hope and dream.

So please come out, however you can and support my fundraiser by making a donation today. Thank you and God Bless!
