Andy's Dash for Doernbecher

Hey Racers,

Thank you all for participating in the inaugural Andy's Dash for Doernbecher! We ended up raising about $7,500 for the OHSU Foundation! What an awesome number to hit; the support for this race was absolutely tremendous! It was amazing to see all the photos and posts last weekend! We had great weather here in Oregon, but we also had runners in Europe and all over the United States! I personally had a fun time running with my family... well, it wasn't exactly fun; I think painful is a more accurate word :). I want to give a special shout out to the top 3 finishers: Colin Hornby, with a time of 17:17, came in first place! My friend Blake Thune, with a time of 18:57, came in second place! And Emily Allton, with a time of 19:24, came in third place! I also want to give a shout out to our youngest runner, Cody Beadnell, who finished with an amazing time of 57:59! Great job to the top 3 finishers, Cody, and everyone else who ran or walked the race! When I was recovering in the hospital after my accident, I learned not to take my health for granted. Now, today, in this terrible pandemic, I hope you all share the same thankfulness with me. Even though we are going through some hard times, I am grateful that I can get outside and run, as I hope you are too. Again, thank you for all the support, and I look forward to hosting Andy's Dash for Doernbecher again next year! (Hopefully in person)

Huge Shoutout to Hai and everyone from the Sunstone Running Club! Hai really helped advertise the race and helped grow it into what it is today! I'm very thankful for him and everything he has done! Keep running everyone!

Hey everyone! Today is the last day to sign up for Andy's Dash for Doernbecher. I've had a great time organizing this race, and if you were wondering, we have 107 participants and have made $5,318 that will go to the OHSU Foundation. I just want to thank all of you for the support you have given me, and a special shoutout to my mom and dad, Anna and Paul Grass, for helping me so much along the way. I am so grateful to be able to give back to Doernbecher like this, and you all are to thank for that. Again, thank you, and Happy New Years!

Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow with family and friends! Today (Christmas Eve) is the 6 year anniversary of my accident, so it is extra special for me! I'm happy to be here today, spending time with my family. Also, just a reminder, there is only a week left to register for Andy's Dash for Doernbecher! We are currently at 95 participants; so close to 100! Register or donate by December 31st in order to raise money for the OHSU Foundation! Again, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

When I started Andy's Dash for Doernbecher, my goal was to get 100 people to sign up and raise a total of $5,000 for Doernbecher. As you can see, we are getting extremely close to reaching that goal. I just want to thank everybody for helping me grow this event, and if you are planning on signing up, registration ends on December 31st. That means you have about a week and a half to sign up! Again, thank you to everybody who is participating, and let's keep it going!

As many of you know, Doernbecher means a lot to me, because frankly, they saved my life. When I was 10 years old, I was crushed by a log and sustained 2 collapsed lungs, a lacerated liver, a broken pelvis, and many other terrible injuries. I was rushed to Doernbecher, and they were able to save my life. To be honest, I don't really like talking about it; almost dying isn't really something I want to be known for. Nonetheless, Doernbecher is an amazing organization that means so much to me. They saved my life, and will undoubtedly save many more. I've known Coach Joe Nichols for a long time - in fact, I even played baseball on his team a few years back. He's always been an amazing person, and in his last youtube video, he shouted out our race, Andy's Dash for Doernbecher! What an awesome guy!
