On this day, we remember the birth of Rachel Carson in 1907 — celebrated author, marine biologist, and pioneering conservationist whose work forever changed how we understand and protect the natural world.

Through her writing and tireless advocacy, Rachel Carson inspired generations to appreciate the beauty of our coastal environments and the importance of preserving them for future generations.

Located across from the Rachel Carson Reserve, Beaufort Hotel proudly honors her legacy with the Rachel Carson Ballroom — a tribute to her enduring impact on marine biology, environmental conservation, and the Crystal Coast we continue to cherish today.

Through our “Coins for Conservation” program, Beaufort Hotel has also been proud to support Friends of the Reserve and their continued conservation efforts. Over the last three years, donations from the program have helped protect the local habitat that is home to more than 25 wild horses along the Rachel Carson Reserve.

In the first year alone, the program generated more than $17,000 to support conservation initiatives — helping preserve the beauty and natural resources that make our coastal community so special.
