BAY CITY BLOOPERBALL TOURNAMENT RULES
*GAME RULES:
1. A regulation game consists of 7 innings.
2. There will be no bunting, stealing or leading. Diving back to the bag will be allowed on overruns only. YOU CAN SLIDE..
3. (4) Balls will be a walk, (3) strikes an out. A foul on 3rd strike is considered a foul ball. Third foul ball is an out.
4. There will be no running through on second and third.
5. One base on an over-throw.
6. Legal Lineup consists of at least 7 players without forfeit by game time.
7. If 9 players are available by the 9th batter is due up, no penalty for outs.
8. If 8 players, the unavailable 9th batter is considered an out.
9. If 7 players, the unavailable 8th and 9th batter is considered an out.
10. The defensive team will provide a courtesy catcher in these cases.
11. All players bat and once batted must continue to bat the entire game (injury or having to leave for a legitimate reason accepted, (leaving for work related, no out applies). A player may bat and not play the field, but a player who plays the field must bat. * An exclusion is allowed for one player (age or disability) who plays defensively who does not have to bat. This exclusion applies only if the team has ten or more other batters at any time during the entire game.
12. Late players arriving will be inserting at the end of batting order if they have not arrived by the first pitch. Other players may not be added during the game if they have been excluded from the batting order except for having arrived late.
13. Extra Innings games: Runner starts at 2nd base, No pinch runner may be used.
*14. PITCHING REGULTION:
15. All pitches thrown must be over minimum of 6 foot.
16. Legal Pitching: The ball striking any portion of mat or home plate will be a strike.
17. Mercy Rule: 10 runs after five innings
18. No sliding if you are wearing steel cleats.
19. May be any player on the team but he may ONLY RUN ONCE PER INNING AS A COURTESY RUNNER. Runners may not switch bases as play progresses with another runner.
20. DOUBLE FIRST BASE RULE: HOME PLATE RULE:
21. A batter/runner must use the outside bag at first base on any hit ball that could result in a play at the bag with a defensive foot is on the inside bag. A clean hit to outfield the runner has the right to the inside bag to make the turn.
22. League requires a second home plate which base runners must always use the outside plate under all circumstances. A runner crossing the plate in the batter box is automatically out and no run is scored. Player does not have to touch second home plate on a home run.
*23. COMMMITMENT LINE RULE:
24. A three – foot long, three inch wide commitment line shall be marked perpendicular to the foul line and placed 32’ – 6” from third base. Once a runner touches the ground on or past the commitment line, the runner may not return to third base, the runner must continue toward the scoring plate. Violations will result in an out.
25. A base runner that has not advanced past the commitment line between third and home plate may return to third base at his own risk of being tagged out by the defensive player.
26. A runner that has passed the COMMITMENT LINE but not reached the SCORING PLATE shall be declared OUT if: A defensive player in possession of the ball touches home plate.
*27. SCORING PLATE RULE:
28. A Scoring plate shall be placed 8 feet from the back tip of home plate on an extended line from first base. A line shall be drawn from third base to the scoring plate. The scoring plate is used by the offensive player only.
29. All plays at the plate shall be force plays. A defender shall record an out at the plate having possession of the ball and tagged home plate prior to the runner touching the scoring plate. A runner who attempts to score by touching other than the scoring plate shall be called out.
*30. INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE IS NOT PERMISSIBLE (CURSING/SWEARING)
31. All contact between players running bases should be avoided: deliberate contact will result in (1) game suspension starting with the game in question and the following game.
32. Fighting or assaulting another player will not be tolerated.
33. Punching, slapping, tripping, tackling, throwing objects or any unethical play done with intent to injure or take a player out will result in immediate ejection from the game. (This is not a complete list of offenses; other serious offenses will fall under these guidelines). A review of the incident will take place by the elected members/reps of the league to determine severity of the incident after speaking to players and coaches involved and determine punishment from a warning to game or year suspensions or lifelong ban from the league. A suspended or banned player caught playing will cause that teams forfeiture of the game. Repeat offenders are subject to longer or more severe punishment. No spectators on field during game time. Spectators should act in a professional manner also at all times.
34. Overly intoxicated members will be ejected.
