Truth be told, the Jake Haapajoki Memorial Cup is a lot of work. Months of planning, long days in the cold, multiple bracket changes, last-minute t-shirt orders, and the constant pressure of hoping everything lines up and the weather cooperates on tourney day.

But then you get to moments like this. Congratulations to Caleb Borders and Alayna Svendsen, two outstanding humans who represent everything we hope this tournament supports. Kind, hardworking, community-minded people who will no doubt continue making a positive impact wherever life takes them.

Thank you to everyone who shows up, volunteers, sponsors, donates, and stands behind the JHMC. This is the impact you help create. 💙 🏒

As we wake up the day after the 7th Annual Jake Haapajoki Memorial Cup, our hearts are still overflowing with gratitude.

What started as a way to honor Jake has become something bigger than a tournament — it’s a reminder that this community shows up, even in the cold, even in the hard moments, and always for each other.

To every player who laced up for something bigger than the scoreboard…
To every volunteer who braved the cold all day and kept the fires going…
To every sponsor who believed in this mission…
To every family who shared a name during our moment of silence…

Thank you for making this weekend more than hockey.

We’re so excited to be back again this year at the 7th Annual Jake Haapajoki Memorial Cup 🏒💙

Join us Saturday, January 3rd in Baxter, MN as we serve up warm drinks and food to help keep you cozy during this incredible outdoor hockey tournament.

This event means so much to us as it honors Jake’s memory and all of those we have lost to su***de and supports Smiles for Jake, a nonprofit dedicated to su***de prevention and spreading positivity through life-affirming action.

We’re honored to support such an amazing cause and to be a part of such a fun, meaningful event. We'll see you there!🏒☕️

Our tournament is about more than hockey — it’s about community, connection, and hope. Before the final championship game, we will hold a moment of silence to honor those we have lost to su***de and the impact they continue to have on our lives. This moment is meant to remember, reflect, and remind one another that nobody in this community stands alone. 💙
