Help us celebrate the region's next generation of community leaders as we honor them at the 2026 High School Volunteer Awards, 1:30 p.m., Sunday, October 25, on the main stage at the fairgrounds.

This year, we'll celebrate a record 62 high school students, selected by their schools for their service to their schools and communities. Each will be presented a certificate of achievement and a $500 award.

Every year, the fair and Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation invite high schools in the Greater Baton Rouge area to submit one High School Volunteer Award honoree per school. Honorees are selected as juniors and receive their awards the fall of their senior year. This year’s record of 62 honorees surpasses last year's record of 51 honorees.

See the honorees and learn more at https://www.gbrsf.com/events/2026/high-school-volunteer-awards-program.

BATON ROUGE – The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair returns October 22 through November 1, with Human Cannonball Tina Miser, Louisiana Snake ID demonstrations, a chili cook-off, musical entertainment, animals galore, and all the great food, fun and tradition that comes with the fair.

The annual event, which has been volunteer-driven since its start in 1965, is also a major community supporter, with all fair proceeds going back to the community – almost $5 million since 1987, following the formation of the Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation.

“People come to the fair for a great time, and we love that. But the fair is so much more,” said GBR State Fair Chairman Cliff Barton, who’s volunteered with the fair for 54 years. “Every ticket, every ride, every funnel cake supports the Greater Baton Rouge area, from high school volunteer scholarships and educational endowments to the Worthy Cause Grants that support nonprofits benefiting children, families and quality of life. We’re proud of that commitment.”
