Hats off to the 21 Baton Rouge area seniors honored for their community service by the National Charity League — more than 4,000 hours over the past six years. They were featured in today’s issue of The Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA). We also want to congratulate their parents who encouraged and often joined in their service to local charitable organizations. This experience will shape their future, and the Baton Rouge area is richer for it.

As an organization that's been powered by volunteers since 1965, we 💙 our volunteers, and we're looking for the next cadre of volunteers to help us make the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 a roaring success.

During 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, we’re proud to acknowledge the high school volunteers who dedicate their time to benefit their schools and communities. Each year, we invite local high schools to choose an 11th grader to honor as part of our “𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.”

Last year, during the fair, we celebrated a record 51 high school students and presented them with a $𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. Since 1987, the fair and the Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation have committed 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 $𝟱𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 to high school volunteer awards and endowed scholarships.

Volunteer award recipients represent schools from the following parishes in the Greater Baton Rouge Region:

• Ascension
• East Baton Rouge
• East Feliciana
• Iberville
• Livingston
• Pointe Coupee
• St. Helena
• Tangipahoa
• West Baton Rouge
• West Feliciana

All profits from the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair support local worthy causes like the “Outstanding Student Volunteer Awards Program.” It’s part of the fair and Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation 's commitment to volunteerism and philanthropy, with 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 $𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟳.

As we enter the Thanksgiving season, we are grateful to all of you for your support. We are especially thankful for our amazing sponsors, our volunteers and our tireless volunteer board members, who work year-round to create a unique experience for our community. After 61 years, we know we couldn't have a fair and continue our charitable mission without them.
