Hello, Louisiana friends! I'm headed your way. On October 31st, I'll be on a panel and signing books at at the Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge. The panel runs from 10:45-11:45 am at the Capitol Park Museum, 660 N. 4th Street, followed by a book signing at the Cavalier House Books Tent, from Noon to 12:45 pm. Hope to see some of you all there (looking at you Kathy Fitzhugh and Steve Walden). The welcomes authors Johnette Downing and Scott Billington, with Louisiana music icon Irma Thomas (invited) for a featured session on their new release IRMA THOMAS: SOUL QUEEN OF NEW ORLEANS, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in the State Library of Louisiana Seminar Center at the festival on Oct. 31.

The first-ever biography of Thomas tells the story of both the person and the broader world of New Orleans music, as it evolved along with this treasured music legend. Billington, who was Thomas’s producer for over twenty years including when she won her Grammy, and Downing combine diligent research with an insider’s connection to Thomas’s story.
