North Eastern Oklahoma Fire Fighter Training Promoting Fire training and opportunities in north east Oklahoma

This page is dedicated to the men and women who compose the Oklahoma State University-Fire Service Training's nationally accredited Firefighter 1 Academy held in Dewey, OK. This is a rigorous 9 week "hands on" course consisting of many practical skill exercises as well as weekly book reading assignments, homework, and weekly exams. Students must constantly perform various firefighting skills under

pressure as a team and individually both in and outside of class. While in class, under the direction of certified fire and emergency service instructors, students must perform the various fire and rescue skills and standards set forth by the National Fire Protection Agency as well as Oklahoma State University - Fire Service Training. Additionally, students are required to receive passing scores and a high overall grade point average on their homework assignments and weekly exams. At the conclusion of the class, students who achieve successful course completion qualify to take Fire Fighter I certification exam which includes live-fire examinations, written examination, and multiple practical skills examinations.
