Hi! In case you hadn’t noticed, we haven’t been active on social media in recent weeks. Honestly, it’s been really nice, and we’re not in a hurry to get back to posting and scrolling regularly.

So, if you’d like to stay up to date with the goings on at the club, it’s best to read our newsletter (we use Substack and also post it to our website). It goes out on Mondays, usually mid day. In it, we give a run down of our hours for the week, as well as some details on events for the week, and then list some dates to know for the weeks and months ahead.

A small snippet of today’s newsletter includes an event we’re especially looking forward to:

Happy Monday!

We’re proud to live and operate in Barre. Though we (Cat and Nick) only moved here a few years ago, we fell in love with the city and it quickly felt like home. It’s why we chose to stay, get involved in the community, and start a business here.

We’ve also learned a lot about Barre’s fascinating history, which has certainly had an impact on the look and feel of the club itself. As you probably know, the population boomed in Barre in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries as people from a wide range of backgrounds came to live and work here - mostly in the granite industry, but also to establish a variety of small businesses to support the growing community.

You may have seen a sign or button that says “Immigrants Built Barre,” and with that in mind, we hope you will join us Saturday March 7 for a family-style potluck dinner inspired by the influx of immigrants from Italy, Scotland, Spain, Lebanon, Syria, Sweden, and more recently Bosnia, among others.

We’ve asked some of our local restaurant friends to help us provide a handful of dishes influenced by those cultures, and we welcome members and guests to bring a dish to share that is special to you: Whether it honors Vermont’s Indigenous people, or has roots across town, across the country, or across the globe.

This event is free for members, and a suggested $15 donation to Vermont Asylum Assistance Project for nonmembers. RSVPs strongly recommended. Drinks at 6pm, dinner at 7. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to VAAP.

Hope to see you there!

Remember the outdoor Beers & Bocce event we held in the back parking lot in July? We’re doing something similar tonight, but inside, because it’s January and it’s going to be super cold.

We’ll roll out the green carpet (as in cheap fake AstroTurf), set up the bricks and play some bocce. And co****le, too.

Free for members, guest passes available. Rumors of pizza.
