The ongoing federal government shutdown will prevent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits from being distributed in November. In light of this, the City’s Department of Public Health & Community Services is reminding the community that local food pantries offer free resources for those in need.

Area food pantries and interfaith organizations have put together a calendar that shows the various places that offer free food in the greater Bangor area and their hours of operation. If you or someone you know is facing food insecurity, visit these links:

Are you a Dexter resident and affected by the SNAP freeze? HMRC is holding a special pop-up food pantry for the town of Dexter to help make sure our community has food on the table during this uncertain time. This event will happen in addition to our monthly food distribution on November 5th.

“No one should be harmed while receiving health care. And yet globally, at least 5 patients die every minute because of unsafe care,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “We need a patient safety culture that promotes partnership with patients, encourages reporting and learning from errors, and creates a blame-free environment where health workers are empowered and trained to reduce errors."
