Bangor State Fair is a recreational gathering of the population of the Greater Bangor Area.

Bangor State Fair is a recreational gathering of the population of the Greater Bangor Area and the entire state of Maine that lasts for 4 days at Bass Park – the land encompassing Cross Insurance Center. The Bangor State Fair typically draws between 60,000 and 70,000 people a year and dates at least as far back as 1883.

Today's youth spotlight is on Josie Boron!

Josie is 13 years old and part of Penobscot Livestock 4-H Club. Josie has been working with sheep for 4 years now and loves working with her lamb and going to fairs. 4-H has helped Josie become more responsible with daily chores and learn independence. Josie describes her current sheep project as fluffy, cuddly and cute!

Today's youth spotlight is Rhylee Waltman.

Rhylee is active in her 4-H club, Penobscot LIvestock 40H and has been showing and working with beef and dairy cattle. Her favorite part of her livestock projects are the relationships that she builds with the animals. Over the years she has learned that hard work, effort and time are needed daily for these livestock projects and has helped make her stronger, independent and hard working. Her love of agriculture started young growing up on her family's farm and she plans to continue that by building her own herd of cows and continuing to show cattle. For Rhylee agriculture is important because "it fuels and feeds America."

Today's youth spotlight is on Jace Boron.

Jace is 15 years old and part of the Penobscot Livestock 4-H Club. Jace's agriculture projects have focused around sheep, working with them for over 6 years! His favorite part of being involved in agriculture is "the ability to teach younger 4-Hers about raising their sheep." 4-H has helped Jace learn to be more focused on tasks and complete them with drive and passion. Jace's advice to someone thinking about joining 4-H or starting and Ag project: "Make sure you know someone who has had experience within the project to answer all of your questions".
