We love Type 2 fun around here.

Frio Trio: Zero Edition. Our very first weekend in the Frio Valley, and one to talk about for a long time.

If you couldn't join us this year, don't worry. The stories (and the photos) are right here.

🌙 The Night Run was challenging, a little slippery, and lit up by party lights at the race hub. Runners loved it, mud and all.

🚴 The Gravel Ride explored private ranch land and beautiful Bushong Mountain Park and Garner State Park, with scenery we've honestly never seen anywhere in Texas. Tough, muddy, and, according to more than one rider, a worthy rival to Bentonville. We heard you. More ranch roads are on the wish list.

⛰️ Garner, one of the hardest 5Ks and half marathons we've ever put on. That's a lot of elevation packed into a short distance. The views made up for it. Mostly.

👟 The Kids Race was real vertical gain, which you don't usually see in a kids' race. These kids climbed like they had somewhere to be.

❤️ Real and Uvalde County: Thank You. You volunteered, fed everyone a home-cooked meal, and brought laughter and cheers. You made our first year feel like a homecoming.

Scroll the album and find yourself. As for what's next in the Frio Valley, stay tuned. We've got some thinking to do (and some mud to wash off first).

Frio Trio Zero Edition is in the books, and we need to thank all of the awesome partners who helped make this such a successful outing.

Where We Slept:
Camp Cold Springs, The Historic Leakey Inn, Camp Riverview, Riverbend on the Frio, The Springs Retreat, and Frio Pecan Farm. Thank you for hosting all our racers, spectators, crew, and volunteers this weekend.

Where We Raced:
Huge thank you to the teams at Bushong Mountain Park, Garner State Park, West Prong Frio Events LLC, and Riding River Ranch for epic views, killer climbs and some of the prettiest trails in Texas.

What Kept Us Going:
Rustic Frio hosted Friday night at Rustic 83. -grounds-at-leakey-drug-/61573366914441/ handled the early mornings. Double A - San Antonio Pitmaster fed the Saturday night party; find them in San Antonio. Lala's Mexican Restaurant brought Sunday breakfast tacos. None survived. Frio Pecan Farm filled the winners' baskets. Lone Star B**r, who kept a few on ice for us.

And a big thanks to Visit Uvalde County for backing this corner of the Hill Country from day one.

This was a fun weekend. Our sponsors crushed it for the runners. Find them. Follow them. Spend a weekend with them.

Now let’s gear up for 2027!

Saturday on the Frio: damp, muddy, and a complete success. ✅

Gravel riders rolled out at 7am. The mud rolled out with them, and some of it is still riding.

Runners ran the 13.1-mile and 5k, the riders got back and everyone dipped their muddy toes in the Frio afterward.

Now we party at Camp Cold Springs.

Two runs, a bike, some river time, and a light coating of Real County. Thank you to everyone who showed up for Number Zero. 🌊

Friday on the Frio: done, and done well. ✅

Headlamps were worn. Hills were climbed. Everyone came back, which the hills did not seem to expect.

Thank you, Leakey, for the warm welcome. Today the rest of the crew shows up:

🚴 7am: Gravel, 60 miles (or the 33-mile shortcut, no judgment)
🛶 11am: Float for the runners
🏃 2pm: 10-mile and 5-mile trail runs
🛶 3pm: Float for the riders
🔥 Tonight: Hang out with us at Camp Cold Springs

Two runs, a bike, and a float. A solid weekend in our books!

Another great race weekend with Great Springs Project at Natural Bridge Caverns.
