Who we are:
Jazzway 6004 is a creative arts 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that promotes straight ahead jazz and blues in respectful and an intimate listening environment. We help build jazz audiences for the best in local and touring Jazz in Baltimore. The Jazzway 6004 series is in the home of vocalist and presenter Marianne Matheny-Katz and her co-founder husband, Howard Katz. Jazzway is a sophisticated house concert series in an intimate and welcoming venue space in Baltimore County near Lake Roland. The stunning mid-century home was built in 1966 by a well-known Baltimore bookie who hosted lavish, high-profile soirees. Local legend has it that both Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra were guests here. The home was restored to it’s former glory (but updated) in 2005, and the Jazzway series was born in 2007 as a fun and intimate place to hear great jazz and other live music. The performance space seats about 65 people. We have a complete sound system, a
6-ft Baldwin Grand piano and a drum set. Concerts are usually held 6 to 8 times a year on Saturday evenings. There may be occasional exceptions, with a concert held on a Sunday or other day of the week. But that is rare. Our season is generally March through June and September through December, with breaks in winter and summer. All tickets include complimentary coffee, soft drinks, and an elegant dessert, cheese and fruit buffet post concert. Wine, beer and cocktails are also available for discounted prices to adults 21 and older. HOW RESERVATIONS WORK: ALL TICKETS ARE SOLD IN ADVANCE through the website www.jazzway6004.com- NO TICKETS ARE SOLD AT THE DOOR , NOR IS MONEY EXCHANGED. You can purchase tickets for separate events by clicking on "Buy Tickets and CD's" on our website and choose the ticket icon. Many
concerts sell out quickly, so we advise you to purchase on line tickets as soon as you can. HOW TO STAY INFORMED ABOUT OUR EVENTS? We announce our events through jazz calendar links provided by the Baltimore Jazz Alliance (www.baltimorejazz.com ). Our concerts often sell out quickly, so to get direct announcements for our jazz events, go to the home page where it says: "Join the e-mail list". Type in your e-mail address and hit the "JOIN" button next to it. We will not share any of your information with others. If you have attended a concert here - please encourage your friends to visit the website and join the e-mail list. If you enjoyed yourself at one of our concerts, please consider leaving some feedback in our "Guestbook" We need your help to preserve Baltimore's Jazz Heritage and to support our wonderful local jazz artists!

Bookings: Bookings are decided by a selection committee because there are too many requests to process or respond to on an individual basis, so please don't be offended if we can't answer your e-mails and requests personally. All revenue comes from ticket sales, so artists must consider their ability to market themselves. Occasionally we partner with other presenters and hold concerts at venues other than our house concert venue. Support local music and artists: If you are a local musician, please consider supporting the venue and other artists– at least occasionally. You may even offer to volunteer, or you can contact us at the phone number on the website and we will give musicians a special rate to attend. The panel is more apt to take a performer seriously when they are willing to support the venue and other artists. If you are interested in performing please send your electronic press kit to [email protected] OR you can mail a press package and demo CD to the address below and all materials will be given to our selection panel. Please include dates that you would be available. The venue address and mailing address is: Jazzway 6004 6004 Hollins Ave Baltimore, MD 21210
