Gonzales sibling’s, Crystal and Andrae, take the stage to talk about their father, Manuel Gonzales, Jr.

Manuel was a husband to Rachel and father of six children, Manuel the third, Angela, Andrae, Erica, Marc and Crystal. He also worked for Bakersfield College for over 37 years as the director of EOPS (Equal Opportunity Programs & Services) and resource counselor to many throughout the community. Once he retired in 2012 (although he was still working part time at Bakersfield College even after retirement), he was diagnosed with . He later passed away from the affects of GBS at the Southern CA Hospital in Culver City in 2015.
To continue his legacy of helping those with educational resources that could use it most, Manuel’s immediate family members created a scholarship in his memory and name.
The family has hosted several scholarship benefit events including a Mariachi Concert in 2016 & 2019, the Bakersfield Catwalk fashion show in 2017 and once again this year on Saturday, September 14, 2019.
