My name is Arianna and I am an Freshman in high school. Chances are, everyone that reads this letter has been affected by cancer in one way or another. I lost my loving Pappy to cancer four years ago and I was helpless to stop it. Many of my family members have had cancer: my Grandma had a precancerous polyp, my cousin had cancer in his eye, and my Pappy had stage four colon cancer. He took chemot

herapy for quite a while and kept on fighting it. He ended up surviving over a year when he only was given three months to live. I felt horrible and sad. Not just for him but for all those with cancer, so many of my friends’ family members have been diagnosed with cancer as well. I wanted to help others with cancer so they could have a longer time on earth just like my Pappy. That's why I came up with the idea of a race to raise money for cancer research. I got this idea because I love to run and I know many other people do as well. The Pappy Run has raised over $12,000.00 for cancer research! I had a chance to see some of the work being done at the research center and WOW, it is incredible. We will find a cure for cancer, we will improve the lives of those battling cancer and we ALL can make a difference. I am asking for your help again this year! Let’s make a difference in finding a cure, improving medications and supporting the quality of life for those in the most important battle of their lives. Please join us for “The 3nd Annual Pappy Run” benefiting University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to be held in Bainbridge, Ohio on April 24 , 2016. We hope huge turnout year!

We have VERY LIMITED t-shirt supplies left!!!!!!! If you haven't pre-registered, I strongly recommend going to Fleet Feet in Pepper Pike tomorrow for packet pick up, or arrive early the day of the race. T-shirts are first come first serve!

The Pappy Run ONLINE registration is now closed. You can still register though by going to Fleet Feet in Pepper Pike tomorrow (Saturday April 23) from 10-1 (Packet Pickup) or on the morning of the race (Sunday) from 8:00-8:45. Check or cash only on both of those days. Hope you see you there on Sunday!

The Pappy Run 2016 is just around the corner!!!!! This year, the race will be held on April 24th and is now a 5k, instead of the 5 mile. With these changes, we are trying to attract more runners who may not have come in the past! Please help expand the race by spreading the word to family and friends who aren't familiar with the race. The new race flyer will be up soon, along with further information. I hope to see you all at the 3rd Annual Pappy Run!

Some 2nd Annual Pappy Run Fun Facts. It was so cold...

When we headed out this morning it was only 14 degrees (felt like 5),
The breaker for the hot chocolate and coffee kept tripping at the same time the Parks Department director informed us the toilets were frozen,
The iPhone we were using for music, communication and photos shut off due to the cold and would not turn on,
The race timer kept the air horn warm enough to start the 5 mile race, but it froze again before the 1 mile race,
and the cups of water at the 2 1/2 mile mark froze over before the 5 mile runners got to them.

All of these occurrences combined to make this a memorable event for all of us! :) Thanks again to everyone that came out, all of the volunteers and all of the sponsors. Together we WILL outpace cancer!
