OPENING NIGHT TONIGHT! Join us for Xander Robin’s THE PYTHON HUNT, winner of a Grand Jury Award at SxSW 2025 and scheduled for release in 2026. See it now or wait a year!

Tickets include the Opening Night Reception afterwards.

THE PYTHON HUNT (91min) Dir. Xander Robin

Every year, the Florida government calls upon the general public to compete in an invasive python
removal contest in the Everglades in an attempt to save the threatened ecosystem. For ten grueling
nights, an eclectic group of amateur hunters confront the dangerous terrain, nocturnal creatures, and
their own desires. Meanwhile, one professional hunter leads the charge to undermine the competition,
questioning what hides beneath the python mania gripping the ‘glades.

DOCUMENTARY SHORTS! Journey into places and lives unknown to us with these four remarkable short films:

CAROL & JOY (39min) dir. Nathan Silver.
98-year-old Joy Kane, a music teacher and ex-dancer, shares stories and plays piano with her daughter Carol. Their afternoon together reveals artistic lives, family bonds, and their paths across two centuries.

HUNT’S TRADING POST (10min) Dir. Vee Hua ()
Operated by a Navajo Nation citizen, Hunt’s Trading Post serves Native community in a majority-white town.

SAMLAND (20min) Dir. Grace Poppe ()
An artist presents the magical property he has been building and designing on Little Cranberry Island off the coast of MDI, Maine, for the past 20 years. The structures are a physical manifestation of those in his life. His property regularly serves as a celebratory gathering place for hundreds of locals. Sam conjures a blend of W***y Wonka and Mr. Rogers as he invites the audience along to experience the complicated process of harnessing grief into creation.

HOME FROM WORK (11min) Dir. Alex Fleming-McNeil, Michael Beuttler
In tourist towns across the United States, where housing is scarce, a growing number of workers have few options but to live in employer-provided housing. HOME FROM WORK follows two workers caught in this precarious limbo where losing a job could mean losing their home, and an employer grappling with his responsibility to his employees.

Over the past fifty years, four federal dams impounding the Lower Snake River in Washington State have been identified as the root cause for the demise of all of Idaho’s anadromous fish. The dams have profoundly impacted a group of Killer Whales off the coast of Washington, known as the Southern Resident Orcas, which rely on Snake River salmon as a primary food supply. Revealing the corrupt deals behind the dams’ construction and the subsequent campaigns to hide their role in this ongoing ecological disaster, THE SNAKE AND THE WHALE is not just an investigative documentary, it’s a compelling narrative about the fight to preserve our environment against entities that prioritize profit over ecologic sustainability.

It’s One Call for All Season! Red envelopes are out. For those not aware, every donation over $20 gets us a share of the community fund. Those shares really add up, and One Call for All plays a HUGE part in our annual fundraising efforts. The more money we raise, the more filmmakers we can bring in to share their work with our community.

Lost your envelope? Already sent it? Don’t reside on Bainbridge? You can donate online! Donations are tax deductible. Link in our bio. 🙏

10/31/2025

ENDLESS COOKIE is an imaginatively animated family portrait that explores the contrasting upbringings between two half-brothers, one white and one Indigenous, in a humorous oral history. As they reminisce into the recording microphone, the threads of their stories are punctuated, interrupted, or else hijacked by charismatic (and humorously animated) members of the extended family, including nine kids and ten dogs, who add to the narrative by indulging in their own reveries. The result is an exploration of identity, race, and Indigenous resistance to colonization within a First Nations community; an impressionistic and often surreal depiction of family; and a lived-in documentary of the creative process.

WINNER: Contrechamp Grand Prix, Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025

WINNER: Golden Alexander Award, Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival 2025

WINNER: Rogers Audience Award, Hot Docs International Documentary Festival 2025

Morgan (Ella Rubin) is a sheltered 17-year-old, struggling to define who she is in order to write her college entrance essay. When a crisis provides her the rare opportunity to spend time with her significantly older half-siblings (Betsy Brandt, Thomas Sadoski, Aya Cash), she hopes they’ll be able to shed some light on what it means to be an adult, only to be disappointed when she discovers they’re all faking it.
