Our 46th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was one of the most peaceful, gorgeous hikes of the year! This lovely couple joined us from a couple towns over, and they had been looking forward to their guided donkey hike since they had heard about our new service. It was evident that these adventure-seekers loved donkeys, and by the end of the adventure I think they were ready to purchase a couple of donkeys of their own. Although the temperatures have gotten a bit cooler, this was truly the perfect hiking temperature! Every now and then we get the trails "all to ourselves" and today was totally one of those days!

Our 45th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was another ladies' hiking day out on the trails! We have been reached out to by several hiking groups over the summer, but the ladies' hiking groups throughout Colorado are the real bad@sses here! This is the 4th hiking group that has come out and joined the donkeys under the beautiful Colorado sun this year, and each group has done nothing short of spectacular. These gals truly brought the good vibes, high energy, and what else?! CARROTS, of course! If the donkeys could rank their favorite hikes of the summer, I believe that this would be one of them!

Quick-Draw @ McGraw 2025 photos! 📸💚🏔💚👣🏃🏽‍♀️

Last year, CRATES Colorado organized and ran the inaugural "Quick-Draw @ McGraw" trail race, a super technical and challenging 2.1 mile trail course that weaved and winded through the Morrow Loop trail system. These trails, located just south of the Keystone bridge in McGraw Park, offer scenic views of Bailey, all while taking you on an adventure through some of the most rewarding and hardly used trails in all of Park County.

Will Aguyao took home 1st place for the Men's division on last year's course with a super-fast time of 16:23, and Paula Maddox took home 1st place for the Women's division with another speedy time of 22:44. Last year's race saw just over 30 participants, and we are hoping to see that number jump close to 50 this year!

Our 44th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was by far one of the most scenic hikes of the year! If you are a fan of that cool, colorful and cozy fall weather, then September hikes are for you. This lovely couple joined us after attending several burro races last year and wanted to hear all about the "behind the scenes" of burro racing, something we love talking about! One common misconception about burro racing is that everyone is "in it to win it", and that couldn't be further from the truth. Once I told these folks that most people at the back are just walk/jogging and are there with hopes to check a burro race off their bucket list, I think they both realized they could be out there doing it too! "Quick-Draw @ McGraw" Trail Race Series is back!!!! 🏔🏃💚

Come on down and walk, jog, run, join us while tackling the TOUGHEST 2 mile trail course you will ever encounter; or, if you're brave enough, you can take on the newest endurance challenge CO has to offer...

"The Last SQUATCH Standing!" 💪👣🏃‍♀️🏃🏾🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️👣💪

Each runner will need to complete the 2.1 mile loop EVERY "hour", for 6 hours straight! What's the catch? 5 minutes will be DEDUCTED from each hour, every hour! If you don't complete the loop, and be back on the start line for the next loop, you're OUT! Participants will receive a prize for EACH loop finished, and the fastest male and female finisher on the last loop will be crowned the last squatch standing AND receive CASH prize! 💵💲🤑💲💸

This event is being run and organized by Crates Colorado on behalf of the Park County Historical Society. Proceeds benefit the historical society, McGraw Memorial Park and it's ongoing improvement projects - we truly appreciate the support of our community!

*** This is not a burro racing event, but is great practice for those grueling hills that you will get to face in most burro races. Rumor has it, however, some donkeys will be present for the event... 👣💚

Our 43rd official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was another "full circle" moment, as we met these awesome gals at a burro race, and then they scheduled a hike with us! It was so kind of these adventure-seeking ladies to come out and support all of the burros at this year's Victor Gold Rush Pack Burro Race in Victor, CO. - but once they heard that the race's winner, the infamous "Poppie", also did guided donkey hikes, they had to get a hike on the calendar. We had a lot of fun out on the trails, and I as I always say when I tell people about the hikes, we were truly able to slow down the entire experience to that of a day at the races. The weather was phenomenal, the burros were thrilled to be out making new friends and we had a wonderful day out the trails together, spreading that donkey magic!

Our 42nd official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was a great way to celebrate this family's special occasion (dad's upcoming birthday!), as well as a great way to discover a young one's natural talents! Our hike started out as one usually does, but we soon learned that they were celebrating dad's upcoming birthday... which just so happened to be my birthday also! Birthday brothers! Of course we shared some laughs about this, but not soon after, their daughter decided she wanted to do a little runnin' with her burro.. and holy smokes, she was a total natural! They ran together off and on for the rest of the hike - and let me tell you, if she signed up for a race, she would totally kick some @$$ out there! I have a strong feeling we will be seeing this family again!
