CITY OF LIGHTS MARTIAL ARTS OPEN
TOURNAMENT RULES
PATTERN, OPEN (KATA) COMPETITION (MUST WEAR FULL UNIFORM)
1. All competitors must perform a rank appropriate KATA / FORM
2. Open Forms, Any Martial Arts Pattern, Kata/Weapons will be allowed in this competition.
Pattern Scoring will be based on the following criteria:
Concentration, Balance, Strength Understanding of Pattern
(Strong ex*****on of movements)
Judges will run & score the first 3 competitors, after that; judges will score each competitor on his or her performance
Minimum of three (3) to Five (5) judges will be at each ring. weapons will compete one at a time in the ring. Judges will score the pattern.
POINT SCORING FOR KYU BELT (NOVICE & INTERMEDIATE)
6.0 TO 7.9
POINT SCORING FOR (ADVANCE & BB) 8.0 TO 10.0
TIES
If tied – Run off of same or different kata is acceptable for scoring.
If tied again – Judges will point to winner.
POINT SPARRING
A. ALL COMPETITORS: Must have a head gear, chest protector (Optional), mouthpiece, gloves, feet, and groin protective cup (male competitors). Any competitors without any of these required and mandatory equipment, at the time of his or her match will have 5 min find to his or her equipment, or borrow some equipment, (COMPETITORS CAN NOT BORROW GEAR FROM OTHER COMPETITORS IN THE SAME DIVISION) If this is not met, competitor will be declared DISQUALIFIED.
B. Light, controlled striking to the head. ANY competitor who disregards these rules and strikes full contact will be DISQUALIFIED….
ALL COMPETITORS: will run One (1) round lasting 2 minutes per round (White/Red corner),
Minimum of three (3) to Five (5) judges will score the match. First competitor to reach 7 points, in all divisions, will be declared winner. In case of a TIE, competitors will go to sudden death, (FIRST POINT WINS!)
Fist technique: A straight punching technique using the knuckle part of a tightly clenched fist. NO VERTICAL HAMMER FIST(Whack-a-mole).
POINT SPARRING SCORING PROCEDURE
ONE (1) point: Hand and feet technique to head and mid-section.
TWO (2) points: Foot technique to the head.
Light contact to the face & medium contact to the body for all ranks.
NO GROUND FIGHTING.
WITH THE EXEPTION OF BLACK BELT DIVISION, NO GROIN SHOOTS IN ALL DIVISIONS
NO WILD PUNCHES OR KICKS!!! NO ELBOW TECHNIQUES, NO BACK OR BLIND TECHNIQUES, OR THROAT TECHNIQUES. Techniques should be clean and visible, for judges to see and call for score. Anyone judging can also stop the fight if he or she sees a point, (NOT JUST THE CENTER JUDGE).
COMPETITORS OUT OF BOUNDS:
Must have both feet over the tape or matted area is out of bounds, the competitor cannot run out of the ring, (ONLY ONE WARNING WILL BE GIVEN) Competitor will only get one warning from center judge, after the second out of bounds, ONE point will be awarded to the other competitor.
DISQUALIFICATION: Excessive contact in all divisions will not be allowed; 1st time warning, 2nd time one point will be awarded to his or her opponent.
SWELLING, DISCOLORATION, OR DRAWING BLOOD ON HEAD/FACE OR KNOCKOUT BY MALICIOUS INTENT IN ALL RANKS WILL BE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT OR ANY OTHER FORM OF CONDUCT UNBECOMING TO A MARTIAL ARTIST.
