✨ The Story Behind The Pasture ✨
Long before it became a wedding & event venue, The Pasture was a hardworking family farm built on generations of history, resilience, and community. 🌾
Located in the heart of historic Bracken County at the corner of Hillsdale Road and Brooksville–Germantown Road, this land was once part of the nearly 1,000-acre Elliott Farm dating back to the late 1700s. Over time, it became the beautiful 55-acre Morgan family farm so many know and love today.
In 1942, Porter Morgan purchased the property for $9,500. At the time, the farmhouse had no plumbing, electricity, or central heat—just determination, hard work, and a vision for the future. Porter milked cows, raised to***co, cared for livestock, and poured his life into the land.
As farming became more difficult after World War II, Porter opened Morgan’s Restaurant in Maysville in 1947 while continuing to invest in the farm he loved so deeply. In 1959, he built the beloved Twin Lakes, which quickly became a local destination where families could spend the day fishing for just $1.25. 🎣
For decades, the Morgan family continued farming, showing cattle across the eastern United States and preserving the property with incredible care. The iconic white barns with green roofs still stand proudly today thanks to the dedication of the family and those who helped maintain the farm through the years.
Today, The Pasture carries on Porter Morgan’s vision of creating a place meant to be shared. ❤️
From the rolling hills and historic barns to the Twin Lakes, grazing cattle, and peaceful grove of trees, every corner of this property tells a story. Guests can still explore the old milk parlor, walk the grounds, and experience the timeless beauty of a farm built to last.
Now, as The Pasture Wedding & Event Venue, we are honored to continue welcoming people onto this special land — celebrating love, milestones, and community while preserving the history that came before us.
This is more than a venue.
It’s a legacy. 🌿
