I had such an amazing time this weekend at Garden State Anime Fest. I am learning so much more about the fandom and culture and all I can say is the stories and cosplays are so wonderful and the fans are so passionate about the characters they love. There is a culture difference between our comic fest and anime fest, and right now I am lucky to be walking in both worlds. We built GSAF differently then most conventions. We want it to be more immersive and a journey into itself for both families and friends I believe the fans are loving it.
Thank you all who came out and and special thanks to the best damn staff a show can have. Anyone can try to run an event but it takes a team that is just simply the best to make it look easy and memorable for all. A very large portion of anime fest was built by my manger and friend Eric Bellomo. Without his tireless work Anime fest may never have come into existence.
TBH I have never cared about labeling ourselves as anything. I have always just wanted to give everyone a memorable experience and a break from reality if you will. I think we have done that pretty good as I am always humbled by the letters I receive after an event from fans.
Thank you all for such a great weekend and now lets get ready for Garden State Comic Fest as I still have a few more surprises on the way 😉
Sincerely,
Dave O'Hare
