Makamae Melia 'O Polynesia (MMOP), established in 2001, is a Polynesian cultural organization based in Elk Grove, California, with a second location in Stockton, California, opened in September 2025. MMOP welcomes individuals of all ages who share a passion for Polynesian culture, providing opportunities to learn and celebrate through community engagement, traditional and contemporary dance, music, arts, and crafts. Patrick Landeza & Sons brings together generations of music, family, and aloha in a heartfelt celebration of Hawaiian culture.

Led by two-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning slack key guitarist Patrick Landeza, the group features Justin Firmeza on Hawaiian steel guitar and keyboards, along with Danny Landeza on bass, representing the next generation of Hawaiian music. Together they blend traditional Hawaiian favorites, original compositions, jazz influences, and engaging stories that honor the past while inspiring the future.

Hālau Ka Waikahe Lani Mālie / Hālau Kahulaliwai
Hālau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie a me Kahulaliwai was established on September 11, 1999, in Sacramento, CA. Under the direction of Kumu Hula Juni Kalāhikiola Lovel, students span in age from keiki to kūpuna. The name of the women's hālau "Ka Waikahe Lani Mālie" translates to "the peaceful, heavenly, flowing water", while the men's hālau translates to "the water's reflection". Just as the water is essential to life, each student contributes to our life and legacy.

Kumu Tamara (Tammy) Kaulumoanaokalauaʻe Silva, affectionately known as Kumu Moana, was born and raised in Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi, on the island of Oʻahu. With more than fifty years of hula experience, she brings a lifetime of knowledge, tradition, and aloha to her students and community. Kumu Moana has established her hālau in Rocklin, California, where she is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of hula.

Kūhai Hālau O Moana Pā ʻŌlapa Kahiko is an award-winning competitive hālau offering classes for students of all ages and experience levels. Whether you are a beginner taking your very first steps in hula or an experienced dancer seeking to deepen your practice, our programs provide a welcoming and supportive environment for growth. We also offer introductory classes requiring no prior experience, as well as workshops, retreats, private events.

Happy Aloha Friday!

More workshop information for SAF. Let's meet our hula workshop Kumu.

Kumu Nohea will be teaching a hula ‘auana (modern hula) at this workshop. Participants should already know and be able to execute their hula basics to participate.

Kumu Nohea has been dancing hula most of her life. She has been teaching hula for the last 21 years. She ‘ūniki’d (graduated) as a Kumu Hula in May of 2012 on Hawai'i Island under Lehua Kawaikapuokalani Hewett.

In addition to Lehua Kawaikapu, her hula lineage also includes: Naomi Leina’ala Kalama and the late Buddy Koakanu Carson. She teaches hula in her hula hālau in Sacramento, and she has students (men and women) of all ages from age 5 with her oldest student being 80. She has a passion for hula and strives to perpetuate Hawaiian customs, traditions, legends and Hawaiian language through hula.

We are dedicated to the learning, preservation, and perpetuation of Hawaiian cultural arts, honoring the knowledge and legacy entrusted to us by the Kumu who came before us. We recognize our kuleana to carry forward the knowledge, values, traditions, and aloha passed through our hula lineage, and we welcome all who come with a genuine desire to learn. We strive to foster appreciation and respect for Hawaiian culture through hula and ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. In doing so, we honor the past, nurture the present, and help ensure that hula continues to thrive for generations to come.

You won't want to miss this band, let's meet Pōmaika’i I'm sure their music will transport you home if for the afternoon.

Pōmaika’i is celebrating its 12th year as a group. In that time, this group has become Northern California’s premier Hawaiian Music group. They specialize in all genres of Hawai’i’s vast musical phenomena. From soaring falsetto harmonies, to hapa haole songs of yesteryear, and the simplified Island Reggae Music skank of today, Pōmaika’i covers it all. Choosing songs of Hawai’i that others don’t often cover, while still performing the classics is another thing that sets this group a part. Putting their own style and twist on a timeless classic is how they go about their music. The group members are JD Puli, Kaluna Kamai-Paler, Carey Camacho, and Ray Macapagal. Also celebrating the life of original member of Pōmaika’i, bassist, Art Sapiandante.
