Attention Portage County Junior Fair 4-H Sheep Exhibitors - Information about Sheep Weigh-In on May 16th and more!
2026 Sheep Spring Weigh-In Information
* Date: May 16, 2026 from 8:00 to 10:00 am at the Sarchione Complex. Please do not be late. Call your Sheep Committee representative if you are having an unforeseen problem.
*Traffic pattern enter gate 8 (between the open goat and merchant building) and exit gate 6 (the gate between the bathrooms and horse arena). Please do not unload until you get to the scale.
*Scrapie Tags: Required to be in place before presenting your lamb at Weigh-In.
*All sheep must be castrated or banded
*Weigh-In: Lambs need to be on a halter. No lamb tubes, blankets, or chain halters allowed at scale.
*If any of your sheep have any contagious diseases such as sore mouth, hoof rot, or fungus, you must come at the end of weigh-in and notify a committee member before you unload.
*Change in Family Spare Rule: All lambs must be assigned to a Jr. Fair sheep project exhibitor at spring weigh-In. All lambs tagged by a family are available to each member of the family as a family spare. When entering 4-H Online, each member will enter their own lambs and all lambs tagged by the family.
*Fees: $5.00 per ear tag placed at Weigh-In. Award Sponsor: $30.00 per market lamb going to fair. $30.00 for 1 breeding sheep going to fair and an additional $30.00 for more than 1 breeding sheep going to fair.
*Fees will be collected at Weigh-In if you have not paid in your club.
*Fund Raiser: Sheep Committee is holding a Gun Raffle with proceeds going to the Jr. Fair Sheep Program. We are asking each family to sell 12 tickets. There will be a total of 500 tickets. Each family will be given 12 tickets at Weigh-in. We are required to track the tickets by number. Please do your best to sell the tickets. All money and any unsold tickets MUST be turned in to the Sheep Committee by August 1, 2026.
