Girlalala, whose legal name was Maurice Jaden Harrison, was a 21-year-old TikTok creator and hairstylist who was fatally shot in her Florida apartment. Her boyfriend, Shanoyd Whyte, was arrested and charged with premeditated first-degree murder, and reports suggest the incident followed a domestic dispute, with some resurfaced videos online alleging earlier signs of abusive behavior. Her death sparked widespread outrage and renewed conversations about domestic violence—especially toward Black trans women, a community she was a part of. A GoFundMe created in her memory raised more than $19,000, and rapper JT publicly honored her and donated, urging people to take domestic abuse seriously.
