Spend an Evening with World-Renowned Artist Basil Watson!
ATLANTA, GA — The Little 5 Points Cultural District in partnership with the Little 5 Points Community Center proudly announces the launch of a new series of events in L5P aimed at supporting, highlighting, and inspiring the arts in Atlanta. This inaugural event will feature internationally acclaimed artist Basil Watson, known for creating powerful public monuments that celebrate civil rights, and the beauty of human strength and resiliency.
Watson’s remarkable portfolio includes “Hope Moving Forward,” a 12-foot monument of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. located by Mercedes-Benz Stadium right here in Atlanta. His most recent work, “Towards Freedom,” honoring abolitionists Lewis and Harriet Hayden, was unveiled in Lexington, Kentucky on Juneteenth by Governor Andy Beshear.
This exclusive evening will feature an Art Talk where Mr. Watson will discuss his creative process, inspirations, and the stories behind his most notable works. The event will also include a live portrait sculpture demonstration, with local business owner and community leader Patrice Hull, of Stuff We Wanna Say, making her art modeling debut!
This event is free and open to the public.
