ABOUT GEORGE PORTER JR & RUNNIN’ PARDNERS

Prolific New Orleans bassist George Porter Jr. is joined by his longtime collaborator keyboardist Michael Lemmler (Jubilation, TriFunctA), drummer Terrence Houston (The Funky Meters, Toubab Krewe), and newest member Chris Adkins (Raphael Saadiq, Mark Broussard) on guitar.

Porter was a founding member of The Meters and a lifelong session musician, notably acting as Allen Toussaint’s go-to bass player throughout the 60s and 70s. Declared by Pitchfork as “one of the greatest bass players who has ever lived,” and consistently finding himself atop Bass Player Magazine and Rolling Stone’s “Top 50 bassists of all-time”, Porter was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 for his influential work with New Orleans funk progenitors The Meters.

Tinfish:
Grown from the fertile musical soil of the dirty south. Tinfish is an instrumental quartet blending elements of vintage soul, funk and blues with danceable rhythms and down-home melodies. Formed by Delta Moon guitarist Mark Johnson, Tinfish pays homage to groups like Booker T and the M.G.s, Link Wray, and the Meters, while looking forward to the likes of modern instrumental wizards Khruangbin and Hermanos Guitarrez. Slide guitar and swirling organ mesh together over funky drums and bass for a hearty musical stew that's hard to deny. Johnson is joined by Atlanta talent Chris Case on Keys/Organ, Celeste Smith on bass and David Kaiser on drums.

You Can Color Outside the Lines chronicles the rise and lasting impact of the Big Boys, the wildly original Austin band who fused punk, funk, skateboarding, performance art, humor, and radical self-expression into something entirely their own. Long before genre-blending became fashionable, the Big Boys were creating a world where creativity mattered more than rules.

Secret Army featuring members of P-Funk All Stars led by Danny Bedrosian (Longest tenured keyboardist for P-Funk) as lead vocalist, keyboardist, producer, chief songwriter, arranger, and publisher, is a patchwork of genres, sounds, and spiritual creeds under one unifying musical force. Their innovative fusion of Funk, Middle Eastern music, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, and proto-classical movements creates a compelling and distinctive vibe. The foundation of their rock-solid rhythm is laid by Parliament-Funkadelic/P-Funk All Stars bassist Lige Curry and P-Funk drummer Benjamin "Benzel" Cowan, forming a whole new and unique genre bending sound that captivates audiences everywhere.

Soul Candy began in Tallahassee, Florida in 2020 as a collective of musicians with a shared love for dynamic, genre-blending music. Now based in Atlanta, the band defies categorization, weaving together R&B, soul, jazz, house, funk, and pop influences to create a sound that is both vibrant and unmistakably their own. A standout moment in their journey was their performance at the 2023 Okeechobee Music Festival, marking a career milestone ahead of their relocation to Atlanta. That same year, they released their debut EP, "Sweet Tooth," featuring the sultry, soulful “Bloom” and the upbeat, Latin-infused “Yerba.”

Just announced and on sale now. Shangri-la Entertainment presents Mukti & Revival at The Garden Club on Saturday, October 3rd. Shangri-la is donating 100% of the net proceeds to Nepal Flood Relief set by the government of Nepal.

Mukti & Revival is one of Nepal’s pioneering rock bands, based in Kathmandu and performing for more than three decades. Since the 1990s, the band has developed a distinctive sound that blends the soul and improvisation of American blues with the traditional melodies, stories, and character of Nepali music.

Led by vocalist and guitarist Mukti Shakya, the band is known for music that goes beyond entertainment. Their songs explore love, politics, bureaucracy, rural life, social issues, and the everyday experiences of Nepali people. Through powerful lyrics, satire, and storytelling, Mukti & Revival questions, challenges, and brings attention to issues within society while preserving the cultural flavor of Nepal.

For Atlanta audiences, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience a true legend of Nepali rock and see Mukti Shakya and Mukti & Revival live in action.
