With a heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2025 SuperSize Your Life Expos in Chicago and Atlanta and the Butterfly Ball in Chicago.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who purchased tickets and supported this vision. While the in-person events will not move forward, we are exploring digital options to share the powerful conversations and resources our community deserves.

Starting this Monday with a heart full of gratitude 🙏🏾Yesterday, I had the honor of co-hosting SuperFat Chat in celebration of Fat Liberation Month 🎉

It felt so good to be in a space with people who look like me, who understand me, and whose stories mirror so many of my own. There’s nothing like being surrounded by folks who support you and celebrate you just as you are. 🫶🏿

Kudos to my amazing co-host Amanda, the always joyful Julianne (two of NAAFAs very own), and every beautiful soul who shared their time and voices with us yesterday! Specially shout out to Rachel who joined us from the land "down under" 🐨

This month, we’re reclaiming joy:

💛 Travel Update for Our SSYL Family 💛

For many in our community, flying can be filled with anxiety, uncertainty, and, too often, unkindness.

has long been a community favorite because of their Customer of Size policy, which offered a more compassionate way to travel. Unfortunately, that policy is changing on January 27th. I want you to have the facts so you can plan with confidence.

Here’s what’s new:

🔴 If you require an additional seat, you must purchase it ahead of time.

🔵 Refund requests must be submitted within 90 days of travel.

🟡 Refunds will only be issued if your flight has at least one empty seat OR standby passengers aboard.

💡 For our Chicago and Atlanta Expos, nothing changes; you’ll still be able to request your extra seat at the airport.
💡 For Jamaica in February, this new rule will apply, so please keep that in mind when comparing flights.

This update wasn’t widely announced by Southwest — they quietly changed the wording on their website. Thanks to our very own Tigress Osborne, NAAFA's executive director, we learned about it quickly and can now prepare together.

I know this news may feel discouraging, but please know this: we will still travel, and we will still fly in comfort and confidence. I’ll be keeping you posted, sharing tips, and exploring the best options on other airlines so we can keep our eyes on the sky. ~Unique
