Another Pumpkintown is in the books. It was the biggest showing of dancer and patrons. Not to mention an extension to the primitive area.

Special thanks as always to Meredith Willson for all the support. Make no mistake without Meredith push and passion to expose her community to all facets or their heritage which includes the Native American culture. Without Meredith and Scott, this Pow wow would not exist.

Another special thanks to Janell, after the passing of Vicky Collin’s who honored us as head lady right after Scott’s passing, she set the tone. And Janell carried the torch with great honor and strength. She has passed the torch to Sharlene who has been a big part of this festival. Between a never ending potato dance rivalry to now blow gun demo fun, Sharlene will carry this role as head lady with great honor.

Thanks to the rest of the head staff Joey, Jack, James (our new head man), and our shock joke MC Robert RedHawk. Last but not least thanks to Medicine Scout for keeping the heart beating strong.

I cannot sign off without thanking all the dancers for sharing their dance with the Athens community.

Now to rest and think through the needs of next year including outdoor cord covers to prevent issues.

Morning pow wow fam.

It’s Wednesday. Tomorrow we leave to Athens to begin our set up. Friday we welcome our vendors and demonstrators. Saturday we pow wow. We honor our friends and family that have passed. We remember the good times. We laugh because well that’s what we do when we come together, we laugh and take a moment to enjoy life.

I love you all and look forward to spending the next few days with you.
