We’re saddened by the passing of Willie Colón.🕊
Willie Colón helped shape the sound of salsa, but he also helped shape a sense of belonging for generations of Puerto Ricans and Latinos in the U.S.
He used music, activism, and public service to insist that our stories, our culture, and our communities mattered. His life’s work is woven into the cultural fabric of the United States and has opened doors for countless artists and advocates who followed.
That legacy endures.
His story belongs at the National Museum of the American Latino on the National Mall.
