It is with profound sadness that we share with you the loss of our dear friend, fellow committee member, chief drummer, and brightener of even the darkest of moments, our beloved Bob Gregory. (A time like this is when we need Bob's positive outlook more than ever!) Please join us in wishing peace, comfort, and love to Judy and Katie.

Greetings Everyone!!!

Please mark your calendars for our great Fireworks Festival on
Friday evening, July 3rd at Hathaway Park, and for our grand
4th of July Parade in Assonet Village on Saturday, July 4th!!

It’s also that time of year where we offer sponsorships to pay for our fireworks show, which is completely paid for by donations from wonderful folks and businesses; along with helping to pay for other expenses for our two events.

We offer three categories: (with sponsor’s names listed on the back of our annual P&F t-shirts)
Sparklers $100-$249 Firecrackers $250-$499 Rockets $500 and Up

If you’re a returning sponsor, our committee will contact you.

If you’re new to being a sponsor -
please reach out to Melanie Levesque King
with your info, and we’ll be in touch with you.

Please note: our t-shirts require a lot of prep work (lay-out, ordering, printing, awarding the very 1st shirt in early June, and having ready to sell at the Tuesday Club’s Strawberry Festival on June 14th) — which means we must receive all sponsorships by Monday, May 11th.

This also will be the 10th year the front of our shirts will feature the winning logo drawn by a 3rd grader from Freetown Elementary!! Mighty exciting that both our super events are just over two months away!

Our Parade & Fireworks Committee, along with many others were so disappointed with the storm that happened at our July 3rd fireworks festival; but much more importantly, we were so grateful NO one was hurt. That’s what we need to remember…along with offering prayers for all the lives lost in the floodings in Texas the next morning.

We also ask you to join us in offering our heartfelt THANKS to all the hard-working and dedicated members of Freetown’s Fire, Police, and Highway Departments who helped so many the evening of July 3rd at Hathaway Park, as well as throughout our town. The incredibly fast-moving and powerful storm needed quick decisions made in order to keep everyone SAFE and these three departments helped us do that, and more.

Keep in mind, they also “cleared the way” for our parade the next morning. Taking care of downed trees (power outages), directing traffic, participating in our line-up, and helping in many different ways. After the night previous, know we all were surprised to have such nice weather for our parade, along with lots of enthusiastic spectators.

We’d also like to thank Borges Bros (totes), Russell Frade Enterprises (portapotties), Beaupre Electric (put up/take down flags), and Knowles Environmental (removing pop-up debris). Plus our thanks to the Freetown LIONS, Boy Scout Troop #164, Freetown-Lakeville Girl Scouts, Berkley Congregational Church, Freetown Firefighters Assoc, and the Freetown Library for their booths at our festival.

Last, a shout-out of thanks to each of our generous sponsors for their support in helping us put on these great events for our town. It’s because everyone works together, that allows these two birthday celebrations to happen every year in Freetown.

Wishing you a wonderful summer and be sure to mark your calendars for July 3rd/4th, 2026!

Freetown,

The rain and lightning event over this past hour has definitely put a frown on our festivities.

However , once the storm passes we must set off the fireworks, they were already loaded into their launch tubes and must be set off tonight.

Please be safe out there as trees and power lines have come down, avoid them at all costs.

More to follow as needed.

Freetown, Streets will be closing soon. Please see traffic and parking pattern below. Be safe , and enjoy the show!

Freetown,

On June 12th, two exciting events happened at our meeting.

Ariana Rosa (FES 3rd grader in Mrs. Falzone’s class) was presented with the first of the 2025 Parade & Firework’s annual town t-shirts. This was because Ariana’s artwork was the winning design chosen from
45 entries. She was also awarded $100, will have her name included with her design on over 500 t-shirts, and Ariana will be a featured participant in our 4th of July parade.

Also, Freetown’s Parade & Fireworks Committee awarded Jennie Bacci with its first “Freetown’s Oldest Citizen” cane. Handcrafted out of oak by town resident David Garcia, Jennie’s cane includes a brass k**b from the Merchants bank in New Bedford from well over a hundred years ago. Jennie, who was born in 1925, was cheered on by her family and friends as she was presented a special proclamation from the Town. Jennie will also be a featured participant in our 4th of July parade.

Congratulations to both Ariana and Jennie!
