Never subject a character to an experience you yourself would be unwilling to endure. To truly write with any type of believability behind your words, you must live every level; ascribing various eccentricities of your own personally fragmented character to those within your fiction. Your heroes and villains may lie to one-another, but must never be permitted to bear falsehood to their Prime Mover: the one holding the pen, pulling back each and every curtain, exposing the entirety of the minds final mirror. –That most dark shade of psyche one dare not face alone… therein lies both mandate and motivation for the construct of an impenetrable supporting cast; for no lead, no matter how strong or insightful, can stand alone indefinitely. That which impels our hero is primarily a sense of duty, of loyalty to self; a brazen adherence to ethos imposed, -a code of virtue and honor- he will quite literally stop at nothing to win back his love, even if that love is ultimately proven false.

Throughout the Collaboration and assemblage of the stories contained within Still Here, I have drawn on my extensive knowledge of both warfighting tactics and strategy, as well as tapped that unending well of classical art, poetry, and literature at Our disposal. I am a 28 year-old Marine Corps combat veteran, I have traversed the globe, seeing much, meeting many; I consider Still Here to be the culmination of my lifes’ experience to this point: a crossroads in which gratuitous carnage and quippy one-liners meet slant-rhymes and reflexivity.
