Asheville Swing Night

Asheville Swing Night happens on the second Friday of each month in Asheville, NC. We dance east coast swing, lindy hop and balboa.

Follow us to receive updates on upcoming dances! Dances include a beginner swing dance lesson, followed by a social dance. Our mission is to support and grow the culture of swing dance in Asheville by organizing regularly occurring dances and leveled classes. Asheville Swing Night is an independently run swing dance not affiliated with any other dance or organization.

✨ June Beginner Swing Dance Lesson Details ✨

Ethan and Krystal are teaching our beginner swing dance lesson this month! 🎶

The lesson starts at 7PM sharp and is designed for absolute beginners.

You'll start with the basic footwork and partner connection, then move into some fun turns and moves that'll have you feeling comfortable and having fun on the dance floor in no time.

No partner necessary! Most people come on their own, and we rotate partners throughout the lesson. It's a fun, welcoming way to try something new and meet some really nice people. 😊

We usually get 30-40 people who attend the lesson. It's followed immediately by our social dance from 8–10PM.

$10 admission includes both the lesson and social dance

🎶 Andrew (DJ BluJay) is joining us back in the DJ booth for our dance on June 12th!

Some of you may remember him from the earlier Asheville swing scene at 11 on Grove and later at Alley Cat. Andrew started swing dancing in 2016 and recently found his way back to the community after hearing about Asheville Swing Night.

For the main dance (8-10 PM), he’ll be playing a mix of classic swing-era favorites, along with recordings from modern jazz bands that make music for today's swing dancers.

Then from 10-11PM we're having a late night Blues set with DJ Sara. 🌙

Come out and enjoy a fun night of great music and dancing. 💃🕺

New Swing Dance Class for June! 🎶

At our dance on June 12th we’re adding a second class option alongside our regular beginner swing dance lesson.

This special class with Jared Whitman (coming up from Greenville) is geared toward dancers who already know the basics and want to become smoother, clearer, and more comfortable swing dancers.

Rather than teaching lots of new moves, this class will focus on “cleaning up the basics” - the small details that make a big difference in connection, timing, clarity, musicality, lead/follow communication, and overall ease of dancing.

If you’ve been swing dancing for a little while and want to level up your foundation, this class is for you!

Class Details:
• Limited to the first 12 people
• 7:05 PM – 8:00 PM
• Doors close promptly at 7:05 PM (no late entry after class begins)

We’re excited to try something a little different this month!

🎶 Meet Our May 8th DJ

We’re excited to welcome Deb and Franklin as your beginner swing dance instructors on May 8th!

They bring years of experience as both talented dancers and skilled teachers. We recently took one of their lessons at Swing Asheville and were so impressed, we invited them to come teach for us. 😁

The beginner swing dance lesson starts at 7:00 PM sharp.

They’ll get everyone started with the basic 6-count footwork, with plenty of time to practice while rotating partners throughout the room. 💃🕺

Then, for those ready to build on the basics, Deb and Franklin will offer a few fun next-level moves in a separate group.

Everyone else can continue practicing the fundamentals with help from our experienced dance assistants in a relaxed, supportive environment. 🎶

This Friday We Dance! 🎶🕺💃

Join us for another fun night at Asheville Swing Night!

DJ Sara will be behind the music, bringing classic swing era music with a little jump blues, rockabilly and rock & roll mixed in to keep the floor moving. After 10pm the music transitions into West Coast Swing and blues.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Brad & Barrie from Knoxville for the beginner lesson!
