What a way to kickoff National Travel & Tourism Week!

Yesterday, we had the honor of gathering at The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa to celebrate the people who truly define Asheville and Buncombe County’s hospitality industry: our frontline professionals who show up every day with heart, care, and an unwavering commitment to others.

The Heroes of Hospitality Awards Luncheon recognized 41 incredible nominees whose work reminds us that hospitality is more than a job, it’s how we create connection, belonging, and lasting memories.

Congratulations to our 2026 Heroes of Hospitality:
✨ Al Larson, Grand Bohemian Lodge Asheville, Autograph Collection
✨ Benita Wynn, Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville
✨ David King, Asheville Regional Airport
✨ Eva Rodriguez-Cué, Haywood Famous
✨ Marie-Louise Ramsey, Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce-Visitor Center
✨ W***y Meadows, Vinnie's Neighborhood Italian

We also celebrated the future of our industry through the Explore Asheville Hospitality Scholarship Program:
🎓 Alaina Cender, Asheville Christian Academy (ACA)
🎓 Chloe Douthit, Western Carolina University
🎓 Jacob Francis, Western Carolina University
🎓 Michaela Kanelos, Western Carolina University

Throughout the afternoon, we were reminded that hospitality lives in the small moments—remembering a guest’s name, stepping in to support a teammate, or creating spaces where people feel genuinely welcome. These are the people who turn visits into experiences and make our community feel like home.

Thanks to our event sponsors, McGuire Wood Bissette and the Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa, our emcee's Eddie & Amanda Foxx of The Eddie Foxx Show, Flourish Flower Farm and Blooms of Kindness, and Tia Nicole Photography.

We're grateful for a meaningful afternoon spent celebrating the individuals who power travel and hospitality in our region!
