Cat Fly Film Fest Screenings - Workshops - Production - Community Cat Fly exists primarily to strengthen the regional indie film community.

The Cat Fly Indie Film Festival started in April 2017 when a group of badass lady cats envisioned a platform where up-and-coming film artists could showcase their hard work. Inspired by the raw artistic spirit of Appalachian NC, Cat Fly is focused on short films hailing from its Asheville home. The festival welcomes participation from our regional sister cities as well, including Charlotte, Greenv

ille and Atlanta. We promote a pure creative environment, free from the degeneracy of money, fame, popular demand or cutthroat politics. Filmmakers and spectators celebrate the seventh art together in an atmosphere of encouragement and collaboration, rather than judgment and competitiveness. We facilitate connection among filmmakers, leading to greater cooperation and better quality content. We believe in genuine artistry as motivation, and community as instrumentation. After all, we are a group of up-and-coming filmmakers ourselves. We just want to give back to the many talented friends and collaborators who help and inspire us now and in the future. So, we invite you to come hang out with us at the next Cat Fly event!

Sadly, gotta call it on Glitch Fest. Unfortunately due to the devastating hurricane in WNC we will be canceling the event next month to give our community time to rebuild and recover.

We will continue to post Hurricane Helene resource information on our stories for as long as the crisis persists.

If you are able to and feel so called to help, please consider donating to our collaborator, Colston Byrd of , who was severely injured and lost everything during the storm. He’s recovering physically and spiritually but could use community support financially. His gofundme is linked in our bio.

Also we are temporarily turning off the Cat Fly website to conserve funds at this time. We are still reachable via email and social media DM.

Fear not- Cat Fly will return! Continue to follow our social media for news on future Cat Fly events once we’re ready to make our epic comeback 🙌😼
