APLR is pleased to announce Brett W. Naucke has been added to the October 12th lineup along with World Room - kicking off an evening anchored by Horse Lords.

Brett W. Naucke is an American experimental composer and visual artist from Chicago, IL currently based in Asheville, NC. Naucke’s sonic output has been primarily focused on marrying an ever-evolving practice of synthesis with conceptual narratives. His most recent recordings have been released by a wide variety of acclaimed labels such as American Dreams, Spectrum Spools, Umor Rex, L.I.E.S, and Hausu Mountain in addition to many others since 2010. Beyond live performance, Naucke has provided the original scores for several films, sound design for interactive gaming, and presented many works for multi-channel audio and video installations.

JUST ANNOUNCED 📣: Chandra Shukla will join Marisa Anderson on Sunday, June 14th!

Learn more about Chandra below, and join us for an evening of phenomenal musicianship and sharing of sounds and songs from around the world.



Chandra Shukla (born Vivek Chandra Shukla 1975 Alameda, California) is an experimental/avant-garde musician interested in audio, video, live performances, graphic design and runs the independent record label Erototox Decodings. His history stems from learning Indian Classical Music by learning tabla from the likes of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri and sitar from Pandit Habib Khan. At the age of 17, Chandra Shukla met Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and for the next 4 years would be involved with joining Psychic TV and h/er for their live performances sometimes in the Bay Area and other times abroad. In 1998, joining P-Orridge’s first incarnation of Thee Majesty on stage in Stockholm Sweden, with Bachir and Mustafa Attar of The Master Musicians of Jajouka playing eps samplers and his Indian classical instruments. Though offering his skills to other projects such as Scribble Seven (Steven Stapleton’s Nurse With Wound live project). Besides field recordings, modular synthesis, a wide and varied collection of vintage and modern effects pedals and units and the occasional gadget that makes sounds, he also is an avid collector of very rare Antiquarian books and records. In 2021, Chandra Shukla along with friend Carl Michael von Hausswolff debuted their project ‘Travelogue’ (Touch. UK). Xambuca is his main electro-acoustic experimental project and one that has shared the stage with many guests including a rotating cast of characters with audio/visual elements both live and exhibited. Chandra Shukla, once a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and Brooklyn/New York City, now resides in Asheville, NC with his partner and musician Elisa Faires and their two cats.

JUST ANNOUNCED 📣: The Animeros are coming to APLR on Thursday, July 23rd!

Drawing from Colombian cumbia, Mexican bolero, psychedelia, jazz, and more, The Animeros craft a lush, genre-defying sound that feels both deeply rooted and refreshingly modern. The Austin-based trio- Nick Tozzo (drums & percussion), Nicolas Sanchez (bass), and Mauro Lopez (guitar) - weave together their diverse musical backgrounds into a captivating sonic journey inspired by the traditions of Latin America and beyond.

Their unique sound recently caught the attention of Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), who signed the band to Easy Eye Sound and is producing their forthcoming debut album.

APLR warmly welcomes Samara Jade & Friends on Friday, June 12th!

Samara Jade will be joined by an extraordinary ensemble featuring Megan Drollinger, Craig Kellberg, Max Ribner, and River Guerguerian - coming together for a special full-band performance that has been years in the making.

In place of a traditional opener, several beloved musical friends will make special appearances throughout the evening, including Lillie Lumina, Mira McWilliams, and Josh Fox.

This show marks Samara’s first headlining, full-band venue performance in more than four years, following vocal and jaw surgery journey. With a wealth of new songs to share and a stage full of collaborators, it’s shaping up to be a truly memorable evening.

As an added bonus, the show lands right around Samara’s birthday, making this gathering feel all the more celebratory.

APLR is pleased to welcome Nic Panken - opening for Mikaela Davis on Saturday, July 25th!

Born in Brooklyn and living in Kingston, NY, Nic Panken has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, performing on NPR’s Tiny Desk, at Newport Folk Festival and Austin City Limits as lead singer in NYC band Spirit Family Reunion. His debut solo record Near Divine or Merely Rhyme came out in April 2026, co-produced with multi-instrumentalist Jared Samuel (Kevin Morby), and featuring guest musicians Mat Davidson (Twain) and Austin Vaughn (Cass McCombs) among others.

APLR Presents: Horse Lords with World Room on Monday, October 12th!

World Room is the trio of Ashley Paul (saxophone), Jake Pugh (electronics), and Shane Justice McCord (bass clarinet, piano). The music revolves around minimalist compositions, improvisation, and live processing. They’ve been blessed to perform at the Black Mountain College ReHappening experimental arts festival, Black Mountain College museum, and to have recently supported Wolf Eyes. Their debut album is coming out soon on Orange Milk Records.

APLR is honored to present: Shavorã: Roots & Wings Tour on Thursday, June 4th.

We are deeply honored to welcome Hukena, Nãwãēma, and Eriya of the Yawanawá Tribe for an evening of prayer, song, healing, and cultural sharing through the Shavorã movement.

Shavorã symbolizes the movement for equity, the uplifting of Indigenous women, and the visibility and inclusion of the LGBTQIAPN+ community within Indigenous spiritual traditions. Its mission is to transform both social and spiritual realities by creating a platform where feminine and LGBTQIAPN+ voices are heard, respected, and honored.

Inspired by Hushahu, the first Yawanawá woman to occupy a major spiritual leadership role within her people, Shavorã carries forward the vision of breaking patriarchal structures while preserving sacred ancestral wisdom. The union of Hukena and Nãwãēma represents this new path, one rooted in love, courage, healing, and cultural preservation.
