After two unforgettable years of celebrating the sound, spirit, and soul of its musical mountain home, AVLfest will live on in spirit but retire in name. The founding partners forge independent paths moving forward, with a decision that reflects nothing but gratitude for one another and the Asheville community.

Co-founder Jeff Whitworth of Worthwhile Sounds will continue partnering with Wicked W**d Brewing to debut AVL Sounds Fest, a refreshed, venue-based music festival. Expect the same variety of stages, genre-blending lineups, and spotlight on regional talent that garnered national attention and became a calling card for AVLfest.

Co-founder Bryan Matheny, entrepreneur and longtime music enthusiast, will launch his own production company, Streett Level, proudly announcing its first major project: the inaugural Asheville Busker Fest, celebrating the beloved street performers who fill the sidewalks of the city’s colorful busking scene.

AVLfest extends heartfelt thanks to the artists, venue partners, sponsors, volunteers, and fans who helped bring the festival to life. With a new festival emerging and the other one evolving, the love of music and support of our creative community will continue louder than ever. Stay tuned for more information about both upcoming festivals by following along and .

With AVLFest on a one-year hiatus due to the impact of Hurricane Helene on our community, we’re excited to partner with Visit Asheville , Blue Ridge Music Center & Citizen Vinyl to bring you The Asheville Sessions: Celebrating 100 Years of Americana & Appalachia. 🎶 We're looking forward to honoring the voices of Asheville, both past and present.

Join us at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on November 8th for a showcase featuring hometown musical heroes River Whyless, Tyler Ramsey, Toubab Krewe and Floating Action. Like Bascom Lamar Lunsford and many other contributors to the 1925 sessions, these performers have been shaping our region’s sound for over two decades. Alongside songs from their own catalogs, these celebrated voices will also reimagine selections from the original recordings live on stage.

In addition to programming November 6-9 that highlights this project and continues to tell the story of Asheville’s rich musical history, AVLFest 2026 will launch an annual showcase dedicated to the Asheville Sessions, featuring contemporary artists’ interpretations of these historic recordings.

Though we’re missing y’all this August, we’re so excited for this opportunity to celebrate our community this November and beyond! 🎵🍻

No beating around the bush, this weekend weighs heavily on our minds as what would have been AVLFest 2025. And while we’re not officially gathering this year, we’re still thinking about this community every step of the way.

From the very beginning, AVLFest has been about more than the festival. It’s about Asheville—its people, its resilience, and the way we show up for each other. As our city continues to heal and rebuild, we’ve been working behind the scenes on something special to honor that spirit.

We teased a surprise, and we’ll have more to share about that very soon. Until then, we’re raising a glass (and probably a tune or two) to what’s ahead. 💛

After careful consideration, we’ve made the collective decision to pause the four day AVLFest experience for 2025. As our community continues to rebuild and recover from the past six months, we will use this time to ensure we deliver the best possible version of AVLFest in 2026. In the meantime, we are working on a surprise or two for our community so please stay tuned. Thank you for your understanding.

To help our beloved Salvage Station crew…

We have some good news and we have some bad news…Like many businesses in our region, Salvage Station was completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. The extent to which this storm has affected our area is absolutely immeasurable. Despite this devastation, our hearts are filled with gratitude that our entire crew is safe and taking good care of each other. We were even able to find our three Salvage Station cats who miraculously survived the storm and were eager to be fed and loved on. Our community is still in survival mode right now with very little resources, no power, water or fuel. Communication is spotty so we will update as we are able. Big love ❤️!

Show The Grey Eagle some love! Due to his horrific pandemic we have be forced to close our doors indefinitely. We are asking for donations to help us stay afloat during this time.
