In 2023 Dallas filmmaker and scuba diver Andrew Valentine went to Iowa to tell the story of the Annual Icehole Festival. The following year the short film Bad Ice debuted at the prestigious Thin Line Fest. Andrew was kind enough to give us a sneak preview last year. Here it is for all to share. Photo drop from Saturday and Sunday. You can see the conditions on the ice made for much happier people on these 2 days. One thing that I love about this event is the camaraderie. It takes a village to get you dressed, in the water, out of the water and the hoods, gloves and drysuit pulled off. Lots of teamwork to make sure everyone is Ok!
Such an amazing group of people coming together to make the event bigger each year.

Look at the smile on Steven Smith’s face. He knows he is ready for any conditions that extreme diving can throw at him. Poseidon generously provided a ready to dive complete reg set to our raffle. Ben Agee introduced Poseidon to the Festival and won divers over immediately. The demo regulators were in constant demand because they seemed impervious to the subzero temperatures. We are very excited to have Poseidon join our Icehole family!

Big congratulations to Jessica Davidson she was the lucky diver to take home the ScubaPro MK19 cold water regulator. Graciously donated by Eric Peterson our dedicated ScubaPro Rep in the South Central US.

Jessica also had a big day on the ice as Ben Laumann proposed and Jessica said YES! Congratulations!

Two days of instructor-level ice diver training passed quickly. This morning, our newly certified Ice Instructors will assist in training new ice divers under the guidance of our experienced instructors. This morning’s temperatures is -3.
