Looking for a stronger voice at City Hall to support the growth of Arlington’s creative community? Join us for an evening of conversation, connection, and community as we welcome Dr. Jason Shelton, candidate for Arlington City Council District 8.

Dr. Shelton has proudly called Arlington home for nearly two decades. As a Sociology professor and Director of the Center for African American Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, he has spent 18 years mentoring students and cultivating leadership grounded in service, inclusion, and community engagement.

He currently serves on the boards of the Arlington Museum of Art and the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts, and previously chaired the Arlington Unity Council — an official advisory board to City Council focused on strengthening equity and community connection across our city.

Dr. Shelton and his wife, Sarah — a psychologist serving veterans throughout North Texas — are proud parents of two daughters and remain deeply committed to building a vibrant, inclusive Arlington for future generations.

✨ Come meet Dr. Shelton, share your ideas, and be part of meaningful conversations about Arlington’s future.

Your presence and support truly matter as we work together to shape the next chapter of our city.
